Dr. Donald Avery Curtis, DDS

Donald A. Curtis DMD has been a practicing prothodontist in Berkeley for over twenty years, and has also been a professor at the University of California San Francisco since 1986.
Dr. Curtis graduated from the University of Oregon with a BS in General Sciences, received a DMD dental degree from the University of Oregon Health Sciences Center, a certificate in prosthodontics from the University of Southern California and a certificate in maxilliofacial prosthodontics from University of California at Los Angeles. Dr. Curtis has held faculty appointments at USC, UCLA and UCSF.
Dr. Curtis is a prosthodontist which is one of 8 recognized dental specialties. The path to becoming a prosthodontist requires three years of full time training in an accredited prosthodontic program following dental school. His additional training in implant dentistry, use of conventional and ceramic crowns, porcelain veneers, use of partial and complete dentures in addition to his over twenty years of experience …combine to give Dr. Curtis a thorough background to provide comprehensive care.
At UCSF, Dr. Curtis works with graduate students training to become prosthodontists. Dr. Curtis has published over 50 articles in the scientific literature and has posted several of these on the patient education section of this web site for your perusal. Posted articles range on topics from how to decrease and/or reverse cavities, how implants work and how quality of life issues are related to dental procedures.
