Dr. Donald Richard Dossett, MD

Dr Donald Dossett passed on 12/20/2025. He was a very brilliant man, of the First Nations who was noted as gifted in his youth and sent by reservation missionaries to receive higher education. He (in 1979) when home birth was being embraced, agreed to deliver my son in my labor room At Kaiser San Francisco where he was the head of the OB/ GYN department at the time I became the first person allowed to deliver in the laboring bed instead of transferred to the cold stark bright and noisy surgical room. I had a natural, uncomplicated peaceful delivery. I was SO grateful. RIP Skip. He was also a close friend and Skippy was his nickname. He resided on a famous houseboat (The Owl) in Sausalito California for decades.

He’s still alive. Amazing. Let’s see. He’s apache . Pueblo . And Irish? I think . Yes he gets mad sometimes. Used to smoke pot in the stairs in the hospital . Had a boat he brought his gals in for a fun time I guess if you think being with him is fun. Dropped a book on my face once. Knew the Mitchell brothers . Guess why. Lol . I suppose he’s pretty good with meds. I don’t know if he has any morals but who needs those these days? Likes nude beaches . Two or three girls at a time? No problem. Sex addict ? Could be. Narcissist? Maybe. Good luck with him. Lol

Dr Dosset it cutting edge, he is an awesome doctor. You have to give him a chance as his appearance is not one of a conservative doctor. He runs tests basic blod test that othre doctors I have been to do not, he is so thorough and listens. Go to him, especially for a physical, awesome.

AVOID DR. DOSSETT AT ALL COSTS!! I have taken the same RX for 7 years and since I was on a new insurance went to this Dr. to get a refill. He was horrible! His 'bedside manner' is atrocious! He said it is "ILLEGAL" to prescribe my RX without kidney and liver blood tests and therefore he refused to prescribe my RX, even a week's worth to get me through until he could schedule my blood tests. (I went home so angry that I looked it up and even called a doctor friend and a pharmacist that both said he outright LIED to me!) None of the 5 doctors in the past 7 years (I have moved a lot lately) i have had prescribe this RX have ever mentioned that I need blood tests before they prescribed it to me and so he commented that therefore they were all "horrible doctors." He never asked when my last annual physical exam was (6 months ago) but yet insisted I also needed that along with every other possible test and exam he could give me or else he would refuse to write me my prescription. … (That, once again, has never been a problem for over 7 years!)The entire time he seemed very angry (I'm not sure if it was me or something else) and the entire experience was very uncomfortable. He lacked any shred of empathy for my diagnosed medical condition and the problems that I have to deal with because of it. I have never left a doctor's office so upset in my life! I called my insurance company to find a new doctor, as I never want to deal with him again.
