Dr. Donald Roy Fishman, MD

Dr Fishman was always prompt & responsible & respectful towards my concerns. He has a great sense of humor which was very helpful. He could take blood with his eyes closed & it never hurt or made a mess of my arm. He was kind & caring.

Firstly let me say that this is an old school practice. Single Dr. (used to share space), One Nurse, doubles as receptionist, file clerk and medical assistant, and 1 file clerk who answers the phone. Most everything is done on paper and this office could really use a full computerization. Dr. Fishman is quite knowledgeable, concentrates on pulmonary, but well read and a good internist. Downside is that he is SUPER busy and does not seem to spend as much time with you as he might. One other reviewer complained about phone calls and he does take them from patients and other Drs., but then it is better than having a Dr. not communicate Really I should give him 4.5 stars. Office needs to computerize and maybe associate with another Dr. who could back him up. so that more time could be spent with the patient.

I was happy to see Dr. Fishman after my other pulmonary doctor. He is an experienced doctor who attends to you in holistic way. You are not entered into a high tech assembly line. He takes your blood, listens to you cough, takes your samples and tells you directly what is going on. He has been practicing for years and so he has seen and treated many people with the same ailments. I was relieved when I came into his office: a real doctor.

Left a medical record with him and he acted like my life depended on it. Call me on Monday and I will have all the answers for you. When I asked what time should I call- "Oh anytime". Well comes Monday and I called twice , once I got a recording to leave a message and then his nurse answered and told me he will call me right back,. That was over 2 hours ago.He might have a great reputation and won awards for doctor of the year but in my opinion I don't think I would want him for my doctor nor would I recommend him.

I recently saw Dr. Fishman for the first time. We went into his office/exam room and immediately he made a phone call. When he was finished, we started going over my medical history. The phone rang and he answered itand again a few minutes later. I said maybe I should leave as I am inconveniencing his phone calls. He promised not to do it again. Although later, he did. I sat there waiting as he told some man there is a chance he has lung cancer.I can't say if the doctor is actually any good as I have no intentions of ever going back.
