Dr. Donald Edward Low, MD

While having a procedure done by a well know and highly regarded Dr, my hiatal hernia caused him some alarm. Dr Low is the doctor he selected to see me. Dr Low visited me in my room after my procedure and said he would like to meet with me the following day. Both times I found him to be very soft spoken and informative. He was with me for the two most important pre-surgery test I had. Again, very kind, informative, complimentary, and reassuring. I enjoyed his sense of humor. During 2 other test, personnel in those departments told me Dr Low "is the best" and highly regarded. He has explained fully my hiatal hernia and reason why he would suggest repair. He took his time with me and answered all my question. I feel at ease knowing he will be doing my hernia repair.

I came to Dr. Low with esophageal cancer. He performed an esophagectomy. His communication is clear and to the point. He has a record of success. His staff has equally high expectations of themselves and others. I came away from a very invasive surgery with excellent results. If you want a surgeon that is experienced, will be straight with you and provide excellent care, this is the surgeon and Virginia Mason is the hospital.

I was referred to this Dr. through a surgeon in my smaller city. I found him to be a thorough, strait to the point no-nonsense Dr. Just what I wanted from a surgeon who held my life in his hands. He was highly recommended (I did my research) and he deserved the accolades. He was everything I would want from a surgeon namely - get the job done, follow through with regular hospital visits, kind and meticulous. If you want reassurance that when you go to sleep, you will wake up and that everyone on his watch is as meticulous and tuned in to what he expects from them (which is 150%), then this Dr. is the one to go to. I could not have been in better hands.

This is, without a doubt, the worst doctor I have ever seen. He was rude, condescending, and a rare example of pure chauvenism. I had a serious medical problem that needed prompt attention, but I started over with another doctor as I did not trust my life in this man's hands. BEWARE.
