Dr. Donald Allen Moses, MD

every few years I google him hoping to find his Obituary.

I was intitially treated by Dr. Donald Moses for life threatening substance abuse in my early 20's. I had no money at the time and my family refused to give me any financial help. Dr. Moses felt that one day I would be able to pay him back. After 2 years (2-3X) per week, I paid him in full and continued seeing him for 10 more years.Even though my substance abuse ceased, I found his Dynamic Psychoanalysis to be extraordinary in discovering the root of my problems. Today, I am as happy and successful as can be and will always hold Dr. Moses in my highest esteem.Without Dr. Moses, I believe I would not be here today. He cared about me beyond a Dr. patient relationship.Thank you Dr. Moses

Dr. Moses is an ego-maniac. Before our first session he said he would decide after our first session if he would work with me. This is a power play and it continues the longer you work with him. When you bring up difficult topics he makes you feel ashamed into changing to topics that make him comfortable. Topics that he is comfortable talking about are ones that he can use examples of his own life to show how he is better than other people. On many occasions he used examples of patients that he knew that I knew, laughing at how petty they are. His whole "trip" is stroking the ego of the patient by making them feel that they are on his team, that you and he are above those petty fools in the world...when really this is a very immature defense mechanism. He lives an isolated life protected by the walls of confidentiality. He is subtly abusing his patients within those walls and is comforted in the idea that his patients will choose to agree with him and say he is brilliant rather… than admit the more complex and difficult truth that their therapist has been mistreating them. No one likes to admit that the person they gave their trust to abused them, and it is humiliating when this person is your therapist. He is pompous,

Dr. Moses is one of those rare psychiatrists who believe in psychotherapy as the primary treatment method. He prescribes medication only if it's essential. He's caring, responsive, and has an amazing way to help adolescents (even difficult ones) feel at ease.
