Dr. Donald Franklin Nortman, MD

I was referred by a friend to this doctor for 2nd option for my parent. The office manager was an older menopausal woman who had the worst attitude and office manner. She treated us horribly and purposely causing problems. I thought that she must either related to the doctor or she is the doctor's wife that she dare to talk to patient in such a way! You can tell the other office staff was following her direction and doing the same unprofessional things there. This doctor may have good skill or good, but with such horribly staff, it's very worry some. We do not know this doctor nor we have any experience, based on our 1st( the last ) encounter in his office, we can never trust them to take care my family member with serious health issues. I think this doctor should change his staff for good. If that office manager is his wife, he should fire her right away or just retire over all. This doctor is out of basic business knowledge . It's awful!

Dr Nortman has been taking care of my Dad for 6 years now. I have never seen a doctor the takes as much time with his patients AND family members. He is dedicated to doing everything he can to avoid dialysis for my father and he always thoroughly reviews my father's conditions and medications at every appointment. He is personable and has a great sense of humor too. I highly recommend Dr noran if you or your family member needs an amazing nephrologist. My Dad is doing great under his care!

Doctor is great but staff is terrible. Sometimes actually rude. Staff is terrible with follow through.

Dr. Nortman is extremely knowledgeable and thorough. His off ice staff is very professional.

Dr. Nortman failed to diagnose me after two visits and several hundred dollars worth of testing, and then was inaccessible for two weeks. His office staff was unhelpful in reaching him while I was still sick, and told me that he was in court for the full two weeks. I am now on disability for the condition Dr. Nortman failed to diagnose, and the experience with him caused me nothing but stress.

Never experienced such a rude office staff. The dorctor himself is really thorough.

Dr. Nortman is exceptional in every respect. This doctor treats many very complex problems and has very loyal long term patients. Dr. Nortman's exceptional experience, medical education and patient care make him an expert diagnostician and practitioner. Dr. Nortman is in high demandby both former and new patients.

This is not my quote, but HIS, overheard in the hallway outside my hospital room after he had an unpleasant encounter with another patient. Need I say more? I could here him talking next door for almost 20 minutes about some personal financial business after I had waited over an hour. Tacky at best. It's about the money.

I really can't say enough good things about Dr. Nortman. I myself am a medical social worker so I have a lot of experience with physicians. Dr. Nortman is one of those doctors with a career's worth of experience and it shows. He is an excellent educator and he spends the time to get a full history and to explain completely why he makes all of his suggestions. Prior to coming to Dr. Nortman I was told by two other Nephrologists that my kidneys were failing and that I would have to begin dialysis. Dr. Nortman suggested that the combination of medicines I was taking could account for the poor test results. He adjusted my medications several times and everything fell into line. Not only do I not need dialysis, but my overall kidney functioning is doing well. At every follow up he takes a full history again. If all doctors were this through it would change the face of medicine. The only downside is that the wait can be long. The only reasons for the wait is that Dr. Nortman is… not willing to short change a patient in order to stay on schedule. Given a choice I would choose him any day over a doctor who stays on time but rushes through a visit not looking deeply at the full patient picture. I consider him to be in the top of his field and I can't imagine a doctor with more knowledge in his area of specialization.
