Dr. Donald Edward Stephens, MD

My best friend of 39 years went to Dr Beyer because of her food hanging up in her esophagus and refusing to go down, to the point that she had to vomit it up sometimes. Dr S gave her antacids and did not follow up. It turned out to be esophogeal cancer, and the months of delay having to deal with him did not help any.

Never met him before since both times I was there he had another doctor filling in for him two months in a row so I'm not too excited think we'll find another doctor

My husband saw Dr. Stevens because his other Dr. left the clinic he goes to and Dr Stevens was the new Dr taking patients. My husband has complex issues and is in a very poor state of health. Dr. Stevens complained to us about getting old and that he didn't want to work any longer but has to. He was rude and very condescending. He mixed up my husbands medications by giving him the wrong dosage and amounts. He at one point was ready to kick us out of his office and or he said he would just walk out. What kind of doctor acts like this? He knew absolutely nothing at all about one of my husbands serious health conditions and gave him some ridiculous home remedy which we could not believe he was saying. In the 25 years of dealing with many many Drs. for my husbands ongoing chronic illnesses, this Dr., is rated as being the worst Dr., with absolutely no bedside manner. For someone as ill as my husband is, it was very disturbing for him to have a Dr. with zero compassion and caring much less… his degrading and insulting attitude. he needs to retire.

Dr Stephens really cares about his patients. He has gone above and beyond in providing excellent care. I highly recommend him.

I had a awful experience with this man. I refuse to call him a Dr. After 2 horrible appoints with him, I had to write VVMC to complain. I am still with VVMC but refuse to go near Cottonwoods offices because of this awful person., or I would have posted the letter. He kicked me out of his office after going to the clinic for 8 years. I suggest the person below to write VVMC and file an official complaint on this guy as I did. He should be fired.

Dr Stephens failed to review medications I was taking that might be causing serious Phase 3 Kidney Disease. Naproxen, which is a well documented cause of Kidney Issues. He failed to even tell me my bloodwork showed Phase 3 Kidney Disease. When I expressed concern he told me "You're Just getting old" and dismissed me from his practice. The American Kidney Foundation helped me to identify the problem with Naproxen which I quit taking immediately. Two months later my kidney tests were astoundingly improved and showed no signs of disease. I hesitate to think what would/could have happened if I had remained under Dr. Stephens care. I am 64 years old.
