Dr. Dong-Joon Lee, MD

By far the worst doctor I’ve ever interacted with. He was incredibly disrespectful to me in my consultation. He belittled me for asking questions about the procedure, he laughed in my face for asking about a medication I had not heard of, and when I asked him if I could see some of his past work, he said he doesn’t “believe in that” and doesn’t “need to advertise his work that way,” and that if I wanted to see photos of the surgery I was going to get, I could “just look anywhere online” but they I “wouldn’t have any idea what I was looking for.” The procedure I saw him for is a big deal so I was nervous, and he was so condescending to me during my appointment that I cried and had to ask him to be more patient with me. He suggested he should examine my chest while I was still crying and did not warn me where he would be touching me before just doing it. It was a terrible experience and I would not recommend him to anyone, ESPECIALLY transgender/genderqueer patients looking for a surgeon… to perform their top surgery. He creates a very unsafe environment and takes every question as a hit to his personal skill and ego. I can’t imagine why anyone would let this man perform surgery on them.

I had a terrible experience with Dr Lee. He made insensitive comments to me when I was figuring out my surgery options. Instead of giving me the pros and cons of each option, he belittled me about the option that I was going to choose. I found him rude, condescending and inappropriate. I will not be returning to him.

He is so condescending and rude, I have zero confidence he would take my procedure seriously.

I had the privilege with Mr. Lee today with the removal of some fibro-tumors. He was absolutely the best and funny. I can't wait to go back to him

Dr. Lee performed a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery on me in 2005. I will be forever grateful for his skill, compassion and amazing bedside manner. My daughter had a similar surgery with Dr. Lee in 2014 after I recommended him to her. She is also incredibly happy with the result.

This man thinks the sun rises and sets on his shoulders. He is very arrogant, rude and an all around A-HOLE. He doesn't listen to his patients and is more interested in $$$$ than helping anyone. JERK!!

I could not recommend a finer doctor He is the best surgeon!

Dr. Lee has a very arrogant attitude and horrible bedside manner. He makes comments that he tries to make like jokes, but that are offensive.

Arrogant, singlemindedness and inability to think outside the box

Dr, DJ Lee is affiliated with Kaiser Insurance. He doesn't take these other insurances listed. He also works with USC interns. He grew up in New Jersey and he is to the point. Currently undergoing reconstruction from a mastectomy that Dr. Lee performed solo. So far so good. I will let you know results. No infections or problems as many other mastectomy patients have had. Biggest issue is that Kaiser does not put themselves in the forefront of the latest plastic surgery when it comes to mastectomy. DIEP, and other flap techniques. It is extremely important to have a doctor that performs these procedures all the time. So when going for flap procedures go to a surgical team that does mastectomy reconstruction and not nose jobs. Got it?
