My husband and I showed for my appointment after being told we could have a guest and that the appt. was for an ultrasound. We both took off of work early. After waiting a while, I was asked to go back however no guests were allowed and the appt. was not for an ultrasound. Complete lack of communication and my husband had words with the manager. He was to wait in the car and I was allowed to FaceTime him. They said they would do a small ultrasound so he could see the baby. Upon being taken back, the medical assistant asked if I was interested in a flu shot or COVID vaccination, to which I declined both and was placed in a room. The doctor came in and spent 20 minutes bombarding me with statistics and importance of getting the COVID vaccine. I asked if I could have one glass of champagne at an upcoming event and she told me yes but not to tell anyone she said that. The rushed through the ultrasound, barely leaving me time to get my husband of FaceTime. Made nasty comments about my… husbands reaction to not being let in, although that was between the manager and him, not the doctor. She walked me into the hallway, within clear view and earshot of other people and started asking me about my weight gain. She fat shamed me in the middle of the hallways, insisting I get a glucose test immediately, although it’s not customary for another month. She pushed the glucose drink into my hands and pressured me to tell her when I was going to take the test, again making comments about my weight gain and how if I continue like this, I will have put on 50-60 pounds by the time of delivery. If she had read my chart of history, I have put on between 50-60 pounds with each pregnancy, with textbook pregnancies, zero complications, and healthy deliveries. This was supposed to be an exciting and joyful experience, with or without the mixup of having a guest or getting an ultrasound. Every step in pregnancy and every visit is a milestone. She was rude, pushy, and uninformed. She was more concerned with the covid vaccine and my husbands reaction (which didn’t concern her) And fat shaming in the hallway in front of other faculty and patients than my health, my baby’s health, and having a real conversation about my pregnancy. She needs to take a lesson in proper doctor patient conduct and brush up on HIPAA laws. Maybe read a chart and know your patents history before entering an exam room. That’s doctor/patient care 101. I have already filed a formal Grievance with Kaiser.
