Dr. Doreen Ann Wiggins, MD

As others have noted, Dr. Wiggins seemed nice at first. I was having a biopsy and mentioned that I was nervous. She asked me if I wanted to sing with her during the biopsy. I politely said "No thanks," (frankly, I thought it was weird that a doctor wanted me to sing with her while she cut into my breast.) I could tell this made her angry. Her demeanor changed. She had been kind and almost overly familiar, after not singing with her she became cold and brusque. She said she'd call me the next day with the result, but I heard nothing until I called her office 4 days later. When she finally called me back, she was short, terse, and she scared me. She kept talking about things that we had already gone over and that other doctors had determined to be NOT part of my cancer diagnosis (I'd given her the reports.) She also dismissed my choice to have a mastectomy saying "It won't make a difference in your survival rate," in a very condescending manner. BUT, it WOULD mean that I would not have… to have weeks of radiation, I would not have to have mammograms (which were very painful for me,) or any more ultrasound-guided needle biopsies, and the associated trauma and worry that surrounds those treatments. I found Dr. Wiggins to be oddly controlling, short-sighted, and so controlled by her ego that she could not participate well with someone who has questions, or who wants to fully participate in their own care.

Last year, Dr. Wiggins performed a double mastectomy on me. She was so considerate, physically and emotionally gentle — reassuring and supportive for every appointment, the surgery itself, and then thereafter, as well as skillwise a five-star surgeon. I had it prophylactically, but she discovered cancer during the surgery, and she handled that reality so perfectly, getting the margins and specifics checked and double-checked and then course of action confirmed through two rounds with the tumor board: I didn’t need chemo or radiation. And her doing it that way, rather than telling me straightaway, meant I was two weeks out in recovery, feeling much stronger and more secure. It would have been so much worse just to get that bad news and then have to wait for the determinations. Now a year out I just had a wonderful annual appointment with her: all good. I count myself so lucky she was my surgeon. She’s brilliant.

Dr Wiggins has been great. I have nothing but good things to say about her. I would recommend her to family and friends

I went yesterday for my first prenatal visit. I was supposed to have an appointment for an ultrasound then the nurse. The ultrasound tech was great, very friendly and informative. The only had the first appointment in their books so the nurse said I would have to come back to meet with a nurse. The same nurse walked me over to schedule the next two appointments, with nurse and doctor, then walked away. After about 10 minutes the receptionist said all the appointments were booked over the next few weeks so she was going to have to put a request in for a nurse to fit me in the schedule and a nurse would call me with appointments. How can I trust the office to deliver my baby if they can't handle scheduling my appointments. I decided to go with another office, so I called to get my ultrasound results sent to my new doctor, they receptionist informed me their lengthy process to obtain my medical records. Stay away from this place!

Dr. Wiggins is a very warm, compassionate doctor who put me at ease right away after a very surprising diagnosis - she has been consistenly encouraging and I could not ask for anyone more understanding and. I feel so lucky that my primary physician put me in touch with her -...

Dr. Wiggins is a very caring, and compassionate person,she treats everyone with respect and as if it were her going through the experience at the moment. I highly recommend her to anyone without a doubt.

This doctor seemed like a sweet and caring woman but there was something very phony about her. Did not respond well to any difficult questions and over simplified issues to the point of being condescending. Another reviewer mentioned the cell phone thing and I agree. It's a completely hollow gesture since the one time I called it she didn't answer and didn't call back for close to an hour. I found her to be difficult to deal with and I chose another surgeon who was more honest and easier to communicate with.
