Dr. Dorothy Joan Becker, MD

I to am a former patient of djb and her mistreatment did leave a lasting impact on my life. It made me who I am today. In the 80s, she was and still is all of the things patients are saying. I thought in the present however she'd be called out on her abusive treatment of children and young adults. She constantly told me I was the worst controlled kid at the CHP Endo clinic and I wouldn't live past 18. After completing college and becoming an RN,CDE, marrying with children, I met her at a conference and told her I thought I looked well for a 40 yr old corpse. This woman should go away already

I wish I could give negative stars. I have asked not to see her multiple times and yet have gotten stuck with her anyway. She has made inappropriate comments about my appearance, about my weight gain (during my first semester of college), as well as implied VERY HEAVILY that I was sleeping around because I was on birth control. Every time I saw this woman I spent at least 20 minutes crying in my car afterwards. She's condescending and rude and does not listen to/believe her patients. For instance, the one appointment she REFUSED to make any changes to my insulin pump settings because I "must be doing something wrong". She then interrogated me on every step of testing my blood sugar/dosing insulin and when I said everything correct (because I honestly do not cut corners on this stuff) she seemed genuinely irritated at me and said "Well I don't believe you." The next time I went in for an appointment, my A1C had gone up and another doctor made corrections that instantly fixed my issues.… The only thing I am thankful for here is that I was an older teenager/young adult when I had to deal with this woman, because if I had been younger and more impressionable, I don't know how much more damage she would have done to my mental and physical well-being. She is the sole reason I avoided scheduling these NECESSARY appointments for as long as I possibly could.

I saw Dr. Becker as a child with type 1 diabetes and now I'm an adult and I still think sometimes about the crap she used to say to me. As an 11-year-old, she made me watch a video about how if I ever had children, they'd be sick and obese and this turned me away from children as a whole. I've spent my life terrified of babies, when I used to love being around kids before these videos. It seems like a lot of things she asks her patients are for her own research benefits. I remember being terrified of her growing up, which didn't help my control or my attitude toward diabetes.

I have been a diabetic for almost 25yrs and I couldn't wait to turn 18 so I could finally leave this rude, condescending practitioner. Appointments are ridiculously long and she is so out of touch with her target demographic of patients it's mindblowing. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to her.

The rudest, disrespectful doctor I have ever been around! Every visit is a minimum 3 hours, our appointment was at 2:15 she came into the room at 5:39!!! This is not an unusual occurrence, happens EVERYTIME. In the room next to ours the patients appointment was 3:00 and she was with us until almost 6:00. I spoke with this gentleman in that was waiting to see the doctor and he said this was the norm, wait, wait, wait. He also told me he was going to request another doctor moving forward. Unfortunately we are unable to do so because an ex-narcissistic husband wont agree. Do not subject your family to this rude woman!
