Dr. Dorothy Candib, MD

Dr. Candib took excellent care of my grandmother during the last years of her life. Dr. Candib is an incredibly conscientious, intelligent and kind doctor, whose care and expertise made the end of my grandmother's life the best they could be. She also spent considerable time providing thoughtful counseling for my family, in addition to taking care of my grandmother. I think she is an excellent doctor and highly recommend her.

My Mother has been in the same SNF twice in the last 4 years for rehab due to congestive heart failure. Dr. Candib was realistic with us on what to expect and how to manage this condition so that Mother could return home. The nursing staff was wonderful at keeping the doctor informed of any changes with my Mother's health. Happily, this 85 year old went to therapy for rehab, got better and is home again. Thank you Dr Candib for the all the help! You're a blessing.

My mother lived at her Nursing home for a few years.. Had excellent care..It's not an easy time for older patients at this state of life, but all the staff and doctor did age-appropriate interventions.. treating when appropriate and not over treating. (not always an easy thing to do) .. Thanks.

My mother was under the care of Dr. Candib after she suffered a stroke and I was no longer able to care for her by myself at home. She was extremely professional and compassionate with my family and myself. She explained to us what she wanted to do and why. She reviews their meds, and the benefits vs burden of them. She tells you the truth about what is happening to your loved one. I would not hesitate to have Dr. Candib take care of another loved one of mine!!!

Working with Dr. Candib on a daily basis has truly been a pleasure, she knows every resident and there past medical history. She meets with family members, addresses their concerns, or calls them on the telephone if they are unable to meet in person. She truly cares about her residents, their medical issues and formulates a care plan for them as part of a team so that we can prepare a safe discharge when the resident is ready to go home. Often residents come to us from the hospital where they are very deconditioned, she adjusts there medication lists to only include the most necessary medications first, and then as they progress and gain strength, she gradually adds them back to the resident if it is necessary. Often times, once the resident is discharged in optimum health, their medication list is almost half of what it once was. She never ceases to amaze me how accommodating she is, you can call her at any time and she stops what she is doing to address your needs or the needs of… your residents. Gerontology is a unique specialty, and we, and our residents are very fortunate to have her!

DR. CANDIB TOOK EXCELLENT CARE OF MY FATHER WHILE HE WAS HERE AT SAINT MARY'S. SHE LISTENED TO ALL MY FATHER'S AND MY FAMILY'S CONCERNS AND ANSWERED ALL OF OUR QUESTIONS. HE WAS ON MULTIPLE MEDICATIONS FOR YEARS AND SUFFERED GREATLY FROM ALL OF THE SIDE EFFECTS FROM THEM. SHE REVIEWED HIS MED LIST AND CUT OUT THE EXCESSIVE AND UNNECESSARY MEDICATIONS. HE BEGAN TO FEEL BETTER ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AND OUR FAMILY WAS VERY HAPPY TO SEE HIM STARTING TO FEEL BETTER AFTER ALL THESE YEARS. SHE TOOK EXCEPTIONAL CARE OF NOT ONLY MY FATHER BUT MY FAMILY AS WELL. FOR THIS, WE ARE DEEPLY GRATEFUL.

Worst experience ever with this doctor at St. Mary 's East! She is very condescending and clearly doesn't not have the best interest of patients and their families as a priority. Be prepared to loose your family member quickly under her care!

Would not recommend. She is one of those doctors with the god like feeling that she knows best and not willing to listen to other opinions. Very poor care in my opinion any doctor who does not think it is good to have multiple opinions is not worth the time or the energy. Find a doctor willing to listen to the patient and do not waste your time with her.
