Summary
My personality influences my approach to therapy in so many ways. I am very playful and social, which is how I approach therapy. I think it is critical to approach mental health in non-judgmental, fun, and free- spirited way. Many people stigmatized those with mental health disorders, while others regard the populations so seriously and fragile. My approach is in-between; I view and treat my patients as people first, with mental health diagnosis.
I found my passion for mental health care when I witnessed the profound impact therapy and support had for someone I cared for. This led me to pursuing my own career, with the hope to have that similar effect on another family. I have been a nurse in psychiatry for 15 years, and a practicing as a board certified mental health nurse practitioner since 2020. I have provided care in hospitals, private practices, community mental health clinics, and instructed in a university setting.
I enjoy seeing patients not only getting better but thriving! …The connection I’ve built with my patients has aided in building trust, allowing my patients to fully engage and open about their past traumas, hopes, and problems. This patient-centric approach supports the person where they are at and the goal of getting back to some sort of “normalcy”. In order to provide the effective care, in addition to medication management, I supply my patients with additional treatment options such as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Esketamine/Spravato®.
