Dr. Douglas Arnold Drossman, MD

I've been to numerous GI doctors who have told me that my symptoms are in my head. Others have informed me that they are things that I just have to learn to live with. Dr. Drossman listened to each symptom that I had and continued to run tests and try different treatments until he figured out what was wrong and found a good treatment for me. Without Dr. Drossman and his PA, I don't think that I would be able to have the quality of life that I currently have. Dr. Droassman has never told me that stress is the only factor in my GI issues. He's wanted to make sure that my anxiety and stress levels are controlled while he continues to help me find the source of the problem creating havoc in my body. Anxiety, stress, and depression will always have some impact on the GI tract since many of the same neurotransmitters exist in both the gut and the brain. It might not always be the cause, but if they aren't controlled, they'll be exacerbating factors. I seriously love this man!

I have IBS and stress has absolutely nothing to do with my symptoms. I could be in the middle of a meeting or relaxing at home and my symptoms are the same. I do not agree with this Dr's view on IBS and I think he needs to look at other factors besides psychological factors when researching for the cause of IBS. I applaud his effort in attempting to help people with IBS but he needs to understand that for many people with IBS stress and psychological factors have no effect on symptoms.

...and get the fortune of having Dr. Drossman call you his patient! Dr. Drossman quite literally saved my life following a botched abdominal surgery at another hospital. He has patience, compassion, and intelligence. I wish I could duplicate this man! He's a gift to medicine!

Dr. Drossman is a kind excellent doctor who took on my complex rare medical condition four years ago. He stood by my side even when the answers alluded him and other doctors. He never wavered in his quest to find an answer when lesser doctors gave up. He is man enough to admit what he doesn't know and intelligent enough to figure it out. Dr. Drossman and his P.A. Chris are an integral part of my medical team. I thank god I have them.
