Dr. Douglas Grant, MD

Why come to work at all, Dr. Grant if you are always going to rely on the biased reports of nurse practitioners and an inaccurate medication database? Go see your own patients. Look at them while they talk to you. they are people in pain. Most of them are honest people desperate for help. They aren't all drug seekers but if you are going to deny them drugs then you must offer working alternatives. Please be fair to people and give them the benefit of the doubt if there is a misunderstanding or mixup and they don't do exactly what you want right away. You may need to repeat the rules a few times for the dumber patients but to punish patients for not understanding is wrong and cruel.

I agree that the wait times have improved with dr. grant. Last year towards the end of the year it was horrible! At one time I waited 2 hours to be seen. I had my children with me so it made matters worse. I also agree that meeting with the fellows is irritating. There is one male fellow that I do not like at all! He is rude and makes you feel like you are there just for the medicine. On the other hand there is this one female fellow that was very compassionate and I liked her a lot! She has blonde hair. I would like to spend more time with dr. grant, I think that he is a great doctor. I understand that the fellows help dr. grant to speed up the flow of the day but maybe he should limit how many patients he sees in his practice. Maybe not accept new patients for a while, that way the current patients have a higher priority

Dr Grant has been my doctor since 2006 and has helped me through this time in my life that has been the most difficult time since my lower back surgery in 2006. He has suggested other ways than painkillers to deal with my level of pain because I thought that was the only thing left. I have an implant that has helped me tremendously and even when times are really tuff Dr Grant keeps me in check and encourages me not to give up and keeps me going forward and holding down a steady job. Dr Grant has been there for me in this very difficult time, he is a wonderful person and doctor.

DR. GRANT HAS CARED FOR ME OVER THE PAST EIGHT YEARS. DR. GRANT IS A COMPASSSIONATE AND THOROUGH DOCTOR. YES DR. GRANT IS BUSY! THAT'S BECAUSE HE IS SO WELL LIKED! DR. GRANT UNDERSTANDS THAT CHRONIC PAIN REQUIRES A COMPREHENSIVE APPROACH. I HAVE BEEN TO CONCORD AND OAKLAND BUT MY FAVORITE LOCATION IS WALNUT CREEK. DR. GRANT IS WONDERFUL!

Trying to get an appointment, or speak to a live person is an ordeal for this office. Then once you get an appointment, average wait time is 1-2hrs in the office. Then you see an intern for a couple of minutes, they go out to Dr. Grant and talk to him, converse on course of action and meds, then Dr grant comes into the room for a whopping 1-2 minute meeting, then you are on your way. God forbid you hold him up and ask questions! Your basic candyman...

The problem is this practice is oversubscribed. It's impossible to get a live person on the phone and forget about getting called back. When you finally get an appointment they usually make you wait a minimum of 30 minutes to get into a room (although it's gotten a bit better since they moved to bigger offices in Walnut Creek). You also don't get to see Dr. Grant until after your exam by a fellow. He then pops his head in and spends about 2 minutes with you at the most.I wish my insurance company would have an alternative Pain Management practice. I'd love to get away from this one.
