Dr. Douglas Wayne Hanto, MD

On the day after St. Patrick's day in 1999, Dr. Hanto's and his team implanted a liver into me. Prior to that an oncologist had had predicted I would die from liver cancer before the year 2000 AND that there was NOTHING I could do about it. As a scientist myself I researched the problem. I narrowed the search down to two liver surgeons-- one in Cincinnati and one in Pittsburgh. After visiting Dr. Hanto, then at the University Hospital in Cincinnati, I knew I found the right man. Not only did I live beyond the year 2000, but I've outlived the oncologist. I'm now nearly 85 years old and very healthy and happy. God continue to bless you Dr. Hanto.

Dr. Hanto performed my liver transplant on February 20, 1992. I am doing very well and have lived a normal healthy life. I became a firefighter/EMT, later married and had children. I write and or email every year and he always responds. Very blessed and thankful for his excellent care. He has even offered to see me if I would like to travel to to see him. Dr. Hanto literally saved my life after correctly diagnosing me.

A regular guy who did what he was trained to do. His simple yet quietly effective bedside manner placed all my fears to rest. He answered all questions and was not afraid to touch and reassure me. Haven't regretted a thing about the surgery he performed and i am healing well.
