Dr. Douglas Ellis Hemler, MD

Dr.Hemler is a very caring dr. with a great bedside manner. However, this is a typical case of the tail wagging the dog. The office staff runs everything. I call them guard dogs, they guard the doctor. But, this staff is more of attack dogs. They attack, bite chew you. Chew you up and spit you out before you are in the office. I was 4 minutes late, they have a built in wait time of 15 minutes, I was told I was late and was told again, not asked, to come back the next day. I couldn’t but was told it was Monday. I went back and was seen. I also, had to wait in line for 10 minutes after I was 4 minutes late. The office manager was there to argue about there policies. I just left. I expect the office manager to dispute my review because she disputes most reviews and doesn’t have anything better to do.

Arrogant, could listen more to patient.

My experience was that Dr Hemler missed my traumatic brain and middle ear injuries for over a year while only treating back and neck pain. After i finally demanded he ordered MRIs showing the TBI, brain hermitages and middle ear damage he attempted to cover up radiaology reports and work strickly for the insurance. At deposition he became arrogant and very defensive fearing malpractice.

Late for appointment and then told me he had a very limited time to spend with me. Very frustrating. Could tell he did not want to listen to me. Very abrupt.

Did not like bedside manner. Not willing to listen.

Great Doctor. wanted pain relief and he prescribed physical therapy.

Dr Hemler and his PA Kirk Prochnio are great, however getting an appointment in a reasonable time is very difficult. Getting an appointment with Doctors is often a problem but when it is a pain mangement Doctor it is expecially a severe problem. Usually I can get in to see Mr Prochnio or at least a return call but recently Kirk is also not available in a reasonable time frame. I have been going to Dr Hemler for many years including physical therapy with Layne Physical Therapy. This time was a recurring issue that resurfaced and I needed a referral for physical therapy. When I am in sudden severe pain, waiting is not an option. Maybe they are taking too many patients.

This doctor took time with me and helped me understand the problem I was having. His staff was so helpful and caring. I felt that I was not just a number and actually got the help I needed. He made me feel like he cares about his patients!

Dr. Hemler is a terrible doctor. He lies, pretends to care but just wants his insurance payment. Stay away.
