Dr. Douglas Lavern Jarvis, DO

This man is not just doctor for the mind aka psychiatrist, he is a helping hang of God. Dr. Jarvis saved my life. He isn't your typical white coat doctor. He has an ear ring and will occasionally cuss. He lights up when he sees your progress. All I can say, to anyone that's worked with him? We All love Dr. Jarvis.

I've had experiences with therapists and psychiatrists, that treat me like an actual illness. In doing so, there's no way of forming a "bond" or trust with your doctor. Dr. Jarvis cares as much as the treatment he provides, as he does his patients. That's the main point. All of those things invites actual trust and a "safe zone", as i call it. In that, I feel comfortable talking to him about any and all things which might be too sensitive or private outside of that safe zone. "kudos" to Dr J.

I was called in to my Suboxone appointment this week only to be notified that the best Doctor I have ever met in my life, and one of the most craing doctors and human beings I've ever encountered was no longer going to be working there and that they were shutting down the Suboxone Program at CBM. They gave me a very empty explaination and seemed short and cold. I never rellapsed ever during my visits with Doctor Jarvis.. He is a great person and really seemed to listen and care about my progress- Not judge and push pills. This guy never pushed pills and was very straight forward on every visit. They did not refer me to any other clinic, physician, doctor, ect... It is very harmful and dangerous to stop taking Suboxone and it often results in numerous side-effects the worse being rellapse. They least they could have done is been honest and shown some compassion for their patients, but instead just called us all in and booted us out. Dr Jarvis is a wonderful man and I really wish I knew… what was going on..

I have a long history of problems with generalized Anxiety disorder and panic attacks. As an adolescent, my mom took me to Oaklawn to see their Psuchiatrists. I always felt like I was treated more like a "Mental case" at Oaklawn and would often be switched around from pill to pill even when it may not have benefitted my current situation...as an adult I was introduced to Dr. Douglas Jarvis in 2007 because of the return of my previous panic attacks. it had been years since I had been to Oaklawn and I had pretty much given up on any Psychiatrists, due to feeling like something was missing and that I wasn't being heard...It is the year 2012, I have now been seeing Dr. Jarvis for about 5 years. I think he is a wonderful Psychiatrist! he has always been very Patient with me..never pushing medications on me without my consent.he also never made me feel like a "Mental case"..he is also very funny and caring! I recommned this doctor to anyone struggling with anxiety or panic attacks.
