Douglas J. Knight, DDS, MSD
Dr. Douglas J. Knight grew up in Auburn, and received his B.A. in Biology from Pacific Lutheran University; graduating Summa Cum Laude. He was also an Academic All-American swimmer. Dr. Knight graduated from the University of Washington School of Dentistry in 1990, where he ranked second in his class. He was in the Omicron Kappa Upsilon national dental honor society all four years. Dr. Knight completed a one-year General Practice Residency at the V.A. Hospital in La Jolla, California and then returned to the northwest to practice as a restorative dentist for two years before returning to the University of Washington to achieve his Master’s Degree from the Department of Orthodontics in 1995.
Since then, Dr. Knight has maintained a private orthodontic practice here in Tacoma, Washington. He is an Affiliate Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Washington and is a Diplomate of the American Board of …Orthodontics, the only orthodontic specialty board recognized by the American Dental Association and sponsored by the American Association of Orthodontists. Dr. Knight is also a member of the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, and the northwest component of the Edward H. Angle Society of Orthodontists.
Dr. Knight has lectured extensively throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico on the use of interdisciplinary care to idealize the esthetic and functional outcomes of complex orthodontic/restorative patient’s needs. He has published articles on the diagnosis and management of tooth wear in children and adults.
Most significantly, Dr. Knight has a passion for pursuing excellence in all his endeavors and tempers that drive with compassion and empathy for his patient’s needs.
