Doug grew up in Oak Park, Illinois and graduated from Oak Park, River Forest high school in 1967. He then attended the University of Illinois in Champaign - Urbana and graduated with a major in Biology in 1971.
He attended the University of Illinois College of Dentistry in Chicago, graduating in 1975. After dental school Doug served for 2 years in the United States Navy as a dentist for the marines at Camp Pendleton, California.
He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Illinois State Dental Society, the Chicago Dental Society and the McHenry County Dental Society.
Doug loves vegetable gardening, yard work, fishing and golfing. He is also interested in fire fighting memorabilia. He likes to say "I am a fire fighter in my heart and a dentist by trade."Â
