Dr. Douglas C Maus, MD

I have been a patient of Dr. Maus since 2017, and have never questioned if he was the right doctor for me. I was diagnosed with Epilepsy in 2006, went to two different neurologists and never could go more than 6 months with no seizures. I received no answers and very little help. After being accepted into Mass General's neurology department in 2015 and one visit with Dr. Maus I had a new prescription, and was given an answer as to how my seizures happen. I am very proud to say that I have been seizure free since 2017. Without Dr. Maus I don't think I would have ever gotten this far. Because of his hard work and determination, I now have a beautiful baby girl that I never thought I would be able to have safely. Dr. Maus and Mass General are my hero's, and in no way can I thank them enough.

Dr. Maus is supposedly a specialist who is trained to listen, evaluate, diagnose, and develop a plan of care. In my case, he did none of the above. When I had finally had enough of poor seizure control with no intervention, I changed physicians. The first thing that my new Dr. had to do was order a baseline EEG because I had not had one in so long!!! Thanks to his active listening, care, tests which all led to medication changes, I have been seizure free for nearly 8 mo. Dr. Maus truly did not provide adequate or appropriate care!

Dr. Maus is very personable he was appointed to me after the previous Dr. left. He helped me understand my condition in layman's terms. He somehow picked my curiosity on how the brain works. Although complicated I do read and learn more each time. I am very happy so far with Dr. Maus and extremely proud of MGH.
