my wife was diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic Breast cancer. Dr. Merkel and his team took Jackie into remission in 2 years. his bedside manner and deep knowledge of breast cancer. gave her a few more years.. kudos to Dr. Merkel and his team..

This Doctor has no communication skills. He is NOT a helpful, kind or compassionate Doctor. He is not up with the latest and greatest therapies.

I have been under Dr. Merkel's care since 2007. When I went "oncology doctor shopping" I knew immediately he would be the right fit. It's lousy having cancer, but now that 7 years have passed I feel even more fortunate to have found him. I'm getting the best care in the world from him and he's so knowledgeable about the latest research in breast cancer. He's meticulous and always takes time to address each and every single question or concern I have. Dr. Merkel never makes me feel that he's in a rush. I find him to be very compassionate and approachable. I can't end my review without mentioning his nurse Diane...she's truly a remarkable nurse and human being! She is so compassionate and has ALWAY gone out of her way to help me with the frequent tough times that come with living with cancer. She consistently follows up with phone calls to answer questions and check on me --even when I don't expect her to! Both she and Dr. Merkel he have made my unwanted journey through… cancer much more bearable than anyone else possibly could!

This is a doctor that doesn't spend time with patient and doesn't share information, very ignorant and most of his staff behaves the same. No communication, no feelings. Cancer patients deserve better than what this doctor provides.

My rating is based on a lumpectomy a few years ago. My experience with dr merkel was exceptional in every way From diagnosis to the minor surgery and its followup, I found him highly informed, superbly trained, and very compassionate. I have a good friend who has had two bouts of breast cancer with his care, and she is a long term survivor. I compare him to the top oncologists my family members saw, and he exceeds even them.

Dr. Merkel is a rare find. He doesn't seek national recognition for his talent and instead focuses on treating and caring for each one of his patients. I have Stage IV breast cancer and he is the reason I am still alive. He is always one step ahead of my disease. BIG bonus: he never makes me wait for scan results. Try getting that kind of attention and compassion anywhere else!

I came to Dr. Merkel after seen another Dr. in another hospital and going through surgery . He took the time to look through all my records and assured me that I was fine. One thing I appreciate is the fact that he requests I have a blood work every time I go for my check ups. He takes time listening to me. I Thank God for leading me to Dr. Merkel, he is a great Dr.

I met Dr. Merkel back in 2005 after being diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer. After finishing both chemo and radiation very successfully, I continue to see him quarterly for blood work and updates. He is always on the top of his game and his knowledge of the most current treatments is truly amazing. He has always given me top treatment and personalized care. A truly amazing doctor.

Dr. Merkle is one of the most underrated doctors in America. He is, without a doubt, one of the premier breast oncologists in the world. I have Stage IV breast cancer and he is always one step ahead of it. He never seeks fame or recognition. He works one woman at a time giving each of us a solid reason for hope.

dr. Merkel has been treating me for stage 4 metastatic breast cacao for NINE years. Without him I have no doubt I would be long gone. He may be shy and a little quiet at first, but once you have been a patient of his he is completely devoted to you. I consider him, and his oncology nurse Diane, to be the two most compassionate, knowledgeable, honest, wonderful professionals I have the pleasure of knowing. I look forward to my visits and even my chemo. When I am there I am treated with the utmost dignity and respect. I feel loved and pampered!
