My experience with Dr. Politz has been legitimately life changing. Not only are his staff (Jasmine, Amber and Carla) the absolute kindest but they are never too busy to answer any questions at all. Dr. Politz is the type of doctor that doesn’t exist any longer. He’s kind, funny and available for his patients. You don’t see specialist give you a direct line to them anymore it’s usually hours of sorting through their receptionist and nurses and then a doctor doesn’t even call you back. I couldn’t be more grateful for this doctor who truly cares about his patients as people. Dr. Politz took the time preoperatively to explain the procedure and all of the possibilities. I can’t tell you how much this surgery has already changed my life. I had facial heaviness and eye pressure that is now GONE! I had back pain when lifting my 5 month old son that is GONE! I have energy already, post op. that I didn’t think I would ever have again. Dr. Politz gave my sons their mom back! I can’t thank him… and his team enough for everything they did. Thank you all again, my family will always be thank for you!

My parathyroidectomy experience in the care of surgeon Dr. Douglas Politz at Tampa General Hospital (TGH) Parathyroid Institute, has been excellent. I looked into options in the New York area, where I live. However, my research pointed me to Dr. Politz and Tampa General due to factors like high cure rate, low complication rate, minimally invasive, radio-guided precision, short surgery, recovery time, and of course the surgeons’ vast experience. After my virtual visit with Dr. Politz, who is a great and patient communicator and answered all my questions, I decided to go to Tampa. At TGH, surgery and recovery proceeded like clockwork. Post-surgery, I had direct access to reach Dr Politz anytime for questions or concerns. He went the ‘extra mile’ to take care of me as a patient, and to really ensure I was recovering well. I am grateful to him for that, and I am sure he takes patient care just as seriously for every patient. Flew back to New York the next day, and now 2 weeks later I… can say my recovery is continuing very well indeed. Dr Politz and TGH Parathyroid Institute team are the best.

I would like to wholeheartedly endorse Dr.Politz and his team for the outstanding care and professionalism with which they performed my parathyroid surgery this May. It started with the interview, where we met via Zoom Dr.Politz and his colleague Dr.Lopez. They were frank and informative, and I felt confident that I was in good hands. I would like to mention that prior to interviewing Dr.Politz and his team, we interviewed most major parathyroid surgeons in the Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Tampa area. None came even close to the experience we had with Dr.Politz’s team at Tampa General Hospital. The surgery went well, but I experienced calcium deficiency after it. Again, Dr.Politz hand held us through the process of stabilizing it, while daily checking on the progress of the recovery. I am now convalescent, getting to laugh and enjoy my life. Just had my surgery last week.Dr Politz is amazing.Drove 4 hrs to Tampa to have the surgery. It was the best decision.I couldn't have been more pleased.From start to finish,office staff all scheduling went perfectly.As for any surgery I was somewhat anxious,who wouldn't be.Dr Politz is extremely knowledgeable and compassionate and answered all my questions.I felt very comfortable going into this.I highly recommend Dr Politz along with his associate Dr Lopez. I would have traveled farther if I had to, just to have the best!

I knew I had come to the right place when I met Dr. Politz. His personality and knowledge is amazing! This was my third parathyroid surgery. I had a very large tumor for the third time, so Dr. Politz had to work around all the scar tissue left by the surgeon of the previous surgeries. Complete success! I am amazed at his ability. A few weeks ago, I drove to Tampa to undergo a parathyroidectomy at the Norman Center, associated with Tampa General Hospital. My surgeon was Dr. Douglas Politz, truly one of the most skilled surgeons I have ever met. He is not only highly competent, but also very kind and caring. He communicated with my husband and me before the surgery, explaining what will take place, answering all our questions, and giving us much needed reassurance. After the operation, he came to discuss the results and answered additional questions with patience and compassion. Over the next week, I had a question and left a message for Dr. Politz to call me, and he returned my call right away. I later also spoke with his nurse who answered questions I had and gave me added reassurance. The total experience at the Norman Center was unparalleled. It is very well run, organized, timely, with friendly staff and nurses, and all this professionalism made the experience wonderful. From the time we arrived at the… hospital in early morning until we left a few hours later, every aspect was planned and implemented in the most organized and professional way. The subsequent care was outstanding as well. I wish I had been diagnosed years before and sent to the Center much earlier. Without hesitation, I highly recommend Dr. Politz and the Norman Center to anyone who needs to undergo a parathyroid operation.

I traveled from SC to Tampa FL to have my surgery and so glad I did. The Doctors and staff at Tampa General Hospital, Norman Parathyroid Center are the best in the world. Within 12 hours of the surgery my back and legs stopped aching, my thoughts were clearer and the next morning my depression and anxiety were better. I am improving more each day and enjoying life again. I can't call it a miracle but it feels like one. Thank you Dr. Douglas E Politz for giving me my life back. Dr. Politz is one of the most professional skilled surgeons I have ever seen. He has removed 3 parathyroids for me which is rare. One in 2008 two in 2019. He explained everything in layman’s terms and treats you like family. He actually cares. I highly recommend him to anyone needing this delicate surgery. Elaine L.
