Dr. Douglas John Straehley, MD

Dr. Straehley came highly recommended by several doctors-won't make that mistake again. Now I check on DORA (the state licensing web-site). His bore in my tibia for the tibial component stem was in varus (i.e.: drilled at an angle), which caused the joint to wear out in four years. I suspect there were probably other problems, since the femoral component actually fell out when they opened my knee up. The loose knee components damaged both bone ends, so I had significant bone loss to effect the TKA revision (if this one fails, I'm out of luck). The last year, until I received my revision, I was in quite a lot of pain. I'm a happy camper now, Dr. Cooney at Front Range Orthopedics did great work.

Dr. Straehley was one of the unfriendlyist Drs. that I have encountered in a long time. He pretty much made me feel that I was scum of the earth because I have a weight problem. I am sure that "skinny" people have problems too. It makes me wonder if they are treated better?

Great doctor and his staff is outstanding.

Did total knee replacement on my mother in 2007. she had an infection within first 2 months that dr insisted was on the surface of knee. Cleaned it out surgically several times.had her in IV antibiotics many times. Mom asked if joint was infected. He said no. He missed the joint infection even though another dr. saw fistula's 3 days after Straehly opened it up for 3rd or 4th time. New Dr showed family the fistulas visible with the naked eye. Mom suffered 4 sepsis infections in 6 months. other dr removed the infected joint last february. No More infection, but all the antibiotics over 3.5 yrs left mom's kidneys weak. Mom died in Nov. Arrogance or carelessness prevented Straehly from recognizing the problem early and saving my mom's life.
