Dr. Douglas James Zeiger, MD

Doctor told me I couldn’t have ME/CFS because I was on a SSRI (used to treat either anxiety or depression). A few months later my condition progressed to severe and I am now bedridden and almost completely disabled. This doctor should educate himself on the fact that someone can have anxiety/depression and also have a serious physical illness.

Dr. Zeiger doesn't travel to tropical locales himself and fears those diseases. He insists on anti-malaria medicine without regard to patient histories of allergic reactions (of which I spoke) or urging proper monitoring of the many possible side effects. My response to the Atavaquone-Proguanil that he insisted I take almost ruined my trip and perhaps my health. Got no mosquito bites. Still wondering how long these horrid symptoms will persist. Would never see him again. Total waste of time and money. Risky for health.

After coughing up a storm in Mexico City and having trouble breathing because of that city's elevation, I was diagnosed by Dr. Zeiger with MAI, a lung condition not unlike tuberculosis (though not at all contagious). Dr. Zeiger sees me monthly. There is no wait as he does not overbook. His staff is wonderful, faxing lab reports to me promptly. His bedside manner leaves nothing to be desired. At least so far as my own case, his ability to diagnose is flawless.

Dr. Zeiger did not know me, but saw me immediately on short notice and immediately diagnosed the problem and that it required urgent hospital care. He got me admitted and was extremely attentive to my care and to follow-up with proper and thorough testing. He was supportive and a strong advocate in the hospital to make sure every last test was done. I think he did a terrific job and would highly recommend him.
