Dr. Douglas William Zlock, MD

I was referred to to Dr. Zlock from a personal friend. My first visit he was somewhat attentive. On my follow up he was completely rude and did not listen to a word I had to say. His bedside manner and unwillingness to perform a certain test that I had informed about he literally laughed. Dealing with thyroid issues is no joke. I am now searching to find a new DR.

He actually sits and listens to what you have to say and explains things thoroughly

Have been seeing Dr. Zlock for several years. Very happy with him as a physician...he listens and explains. Highly recommend him and his staff. Always available for contact either by phone or email. Excellent doctor.

I can say nothing but great things about Dr. Zlock - he has gone above and beyond for my son and has made him feel cared for and really got him through having to test his blood sugar and made him feel very brave and special.

Bottom line - I have to agree with everything the woman has said about the doctor and his staff. Do not go to him. He is less then responsive, His staff - especially "Beverly" is truly incompetent...she is unable to return calls, does not properly schedule, and is plainly rude. The office manager Cathy N., really was clueless about the problems of the front office. I have written a number of letters documenting these problems and issues. One final note, be careful of your personal information with these fols; they provided my cell and home phone numbers to an outside - third party - pharmacy

I was a 27 year old female (back in 1996) diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Dr Zlock was my appointed Doctor after having surgery to have my thyroid removed. He had the worst bedside manners I have ever encounterd, basically he said that even thought they removed the thyroid with the cancer, that it would most likely spread into my lungs and be terminal. I then had to go through several scans where I had to be taken off my thyroid replacement medicine to complete the scans. This process made me very sick for several weeks prior to the scan. Well after this waiting period leading up to the scheduled scan date, for some reason Dr. Zlock did not set up the scan and was not even clear on the medication I was taking before this period. Shortly after few more unpleasant encounters with Zlock, I switched doctors. I am now 42 and blessed to have wonderful Doctors looking after me. I dont wish my worst enemy or even my dog to be treated of cared for by this man.

I have seen Dr. Zlock for about ten years, he has a fine "bedside manner", but more importantly is very concerned about the accuracy of both his diagnosis and sharing with me technical concerns about the possible outcomes of varying courses of therapy. He listens closely to my views and pays attention to me. He is hard to get an appointment with, but only because he has many patients who like him and recommend him!

Dr. Zlock is the most uncaring doctor I've ever seen. As an example: he told me on a Tuesday to 1) take a certain dosage of med, 2) to get a blood test on Thursday and 3) that he would call me on Friday to adjust the med level. He never called, even after I left a message Friday morning. On Saturday, I became symptomatic and panicked. I called his answering service expecting to speak to any other doctor. Instead, he came on the line and practically yelled at me for having disrupted his seminar. He told me that I should have either talked with another doctor or checked myself into ER! He also told that he only called patients once a week and no more. When I pointed out that he was the one who promised to call and that I was expecting him to call, he told me that after that weekend I should find another doctor! Avoid him! Find another doctor!

Dr. Zlock is a great endocrinologist who is understanding of different lifestyles and diagnoses accordingly. He is kind, courteous, and very knowledgeable. It is hard to get appointments with his office because he is so busy... but that's expected of a Doctor that is well known in his field. Staff has always been up-to-date and prompt with all our paperwork and such, So i'm not sure why someone would have a problem with that.

I would strongly recommend not consulting Dr. Zlock's office if you are in need of Endocrinology specialist. It is impossible to get an kind of timely response to concerns, and the nurse in his office, Beverly, is terrible. Completely unresponsive, I have called and made 3 requests of her, lab work order, test results, and prescription refill, and she has never done what was requested.
