Dr. Amer Kassar, MD

In my opinion Dr. Kassar was reckless with my care of Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis. If he would have checked my blood work more often I would not have ended up in the ED with what I thought was a heart attack in stead after all the heart tests came back fairly normal except my EKG because I had tachycardia and irregular heart beats because my dose of thyroid meds was too high. So instead of dropping the dose he stopped meds abruptly which can cause severe health problems and wanted me off for at least two months. As time went on I had to seek out a new Dr. because I was feeling worse as each day went by. I am very relieved I have found a new medical practitioner that understands Hashimoto’s and I am being treated for Hashimoto’s once again. I am very glad I did not wait any longer as my blood work was changing rapidly back to being hypothyroid. He cost me thousands of dollars in ED bills simply because he was not doing enough lab work to know that Low Dose Naltrexone prescribed with… hypothyroid meds can cause this to happen. In my opinion if you don’t understand the medication you are prescribing then don’t prescribe it. I was on the same dose of medication for 5 years and in the six months I was under his care he upped my dose once the dropped it a bit and then he dropped it to my original dose and put me on LDN. With in a month of starting the LDN is when I ended up in the ED. If he would have just left everything alone I would not be dealing with any if this. I would definitely not recommend him to anyone. His office visits only last about 69-90 seconds per visit so there isn’t much time for questions.

Dr. Kassar has been my endo for close to a decade now. Through Hashis, cancer, thyroidectomy, and now management. I really like him. He's brief but thorough and his staff is the BEST, especially the desk woman! Only problem I have is they often don't call in my RXs timely and I run out of meds sometimes. Otherwise I'm happy to make the hour drive to him! And now they to blood draws and ultrasounds in the office!

I dont usually write reviews but this doctor is such a joke, how does he still have a buisness. He took in no consideration for me or fellow family members. I should have listened to the other reviews and word of mouth and just made the drive to Delnor Hospital !

This doctor is such a joke, spends less then 5 minutes with me during appointment, cant understand a single thing he says so I am constantly having to have the girl at the front desk regenerate to me as to what he said which she is kind enough to write out everything for me. The nurse jema had to place a sensor on me and i do not know about you but I do not like my nurse to be injecting me with a needle and she is shaking uncontrollable and after I just witnessed her running around the office in a tizzy. Now I receive a bill for a outrageous amount with no explanation as to why I am being billed. I called the office and bless their hearts the two young ladies tried their best to assist me but they do not do billing in house so now i must sit here and wait for a call. Wish we had more endo's in the area !!!!!

I feel that my first visit went very well. Dr. Kassar is a wonderful doctor, but my prescriptions are never called in. My medical record is never correct or updated with my visits---with important information such as my weigh, bp, etc. this should be standard for an endo visit. My medications are never up to date and I am constantly having to hunt down my prescriptions, lab orders, etc. As much as I like the doctor I am beyond fed up with the unprofessionalism of the staff and I think it is time that I find a new endocrinologist. It is a shame since he seems very concerned and tries to take the time to listen to your issues, but when the staff does not updated your records, put in orders, etc. it is becoming more of a stressful situation than I am willing to put up with. After all you are in charge of your own health care.

Excellent dr up to date with current medications would like more dekalb hours great office staff and nurse

The nurse is clueless and is always scattered and never handles my medication refills. The doctor over books his schedule therefore rushes and forgets to write up my orders or relay information to his staff. Doctor and nurse are only in the office two days a week and in indiana the other days seems to me and many others they have a hard time balancing the two places. The other staff is curtious and tries to accommodate to the best of their ability with doctors always changing schedule.

I have had a good experience with Dr Kassar over the last two years. Always friendly and helpful. Staff and nurses are wonderful.

Great Dr..... Only complaint now is since he has another office elsewhere,it is much harder to communicate through his staff... I have to remember to request prescription refills, lab or my yearly test orders earlier...I usually stop in and talk directly to staff because the phone is rarely answered or followed up on by staff...I t is a bit of a pain but because I think he is a very good Doctor I currently deal with it....If I had a more unstable condition I might have looked elsewhere where there was better communication / follow through by the office staff...
