Dr. Andrew Ivan Tobkes, MD

Dr. Andrew Tobkes, a gastroenterologist in Rockledge and Melbourne, refused to accept my son as a patient with newly diagnosed advanced end-stage cirrhosis. A Florida doctor can refuse to accept a new patient when the patient's condition falls outside their area of expertise, the doctor's practice is full and not accepting new patients, the patient is unable to pay for treatment, the doctor has concerns about the patient's behavior or potential for abuse, or if the practice does not accept the patient's insurance. Not one of these applied to my son. We lost four precious days because he refused to read and act on the referral. We called every day and got the same message – The doctor is out of the office, but I will send it to him again. On the fourth day, I called and begged the receptionist to call him. She did and called me back. He refused to treat my son and told us to take him to the ER and have a hospitalist work with him. We did that even though I suspected it was not how it… worked, and I was right. So, I wonder why ($$$) he refused to treat him.

Great doc, solved my problem. Very friendly, friendly staff too. Spent all the time needed, explained everything clearly.

Over the last year and a half visited Dr. Tobkes for an endoscopy first and a year later for a colonoscopy. His calm and attentive demeanor was assuring and I left with a peace knowing I was in great care. His staff is top notch, patient, friendly and always helpful. In fact I had put off the latter procedure for a year due to the normal fears. Glad I listened to his recommendation, as I was able to have something treated that could have risked my health. To say I would highly recommend the practice would be an understatement! FAM

Really got to know me and my background and issues. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Scheduled an appointment within a week of calling, didn't have to wait in waiting room more than 10 minutes. Doctor spent quite a bit of time with me going over my problems on initial visit, and even more time on the colonoscopy follow-up visit, going over results and diagnosis.

Dr. Tobkes and staff were so caring and pleasant to be around. I could not have asked for a better doctor!

In a world of robotic, uncaring doctors, Dr. Tobkes is gem. Dr. Tobkes has an exceptional bed side manner. He takes the time to listen and explain in detail. If you need a top notch GI, look no further. 10 stars out of 5!

Dr. Tobkes is kind, patient and shows he cares about you and your health. When your appointment is at 2:00 you can expect to be called back to have your vitals checked at 2:00. Scheduling an appointment is easy and the office staff top caliber. I wish more doctors ran their practice like Dr. Tobkes does.

This was my first time with this doctor for my first colostomy. He was extremely knowledgeable and patient with my questions. His bedside manner was perfect! All of the staff I encountered were courteous and friendly. I highly recommend this doctor to anyone.
