Dr. Anthony Dai Duk, MD

I've been a patient of Dr. Duk for some years now. I respect and appreciate him. I love that he believes in treating the whole person: mind body and spirit. And recognizes that one part can't be truly healed without the other. He interacts with me. Asks my opinion on how the drugs are doing and considers it if I request a med change. He has not always agreed and did not change it. But he has always spend time to give me his reasoning for his decision. {yes I must take them}. I'm in recovery, he asks (Am I working my program), when I say nothing is working. He's professional, kind and good natured. And he's good looking. I know it doesn't make him a better doctor, but it sure doesn't hurt. He has been an integral part of my recovery from my mental illnesses. Thanks

Dr. Duk is obviously very well educated, but unfortunately that education does not extend to people skills nor bedside manner. I would first like to compliment him and say that he is extremely responsive and reachable via email. Unfortunately for me, that is all that I can say that is positive. The group that he is associated with, IPMG, runs more like a psychiatric factory - scheduling patients every ten minutes. Color me crazy (pun intended), but when dealing with medications that affect the mind, one would think that it would take more than ten minutes to understand the complexities that come with each patient. After a year of treatment, Dr. Duk never really took time to know me as a patient to the extent that when I emailed him to thank him for treating me, but advised that I found a new psychiatrist, his response was, “Thanks for the notice.” There were no questions about why, concern for my future, nor well wishes, confirming for me that it was not a good fit. After leaving his… office in tears for the second visit in a row (I’m rarely a cryer), I found another psychiatrist and noticed the difference between the two in minutes. My new doctor took the time and care to get to know me, discovering that I lost my virginity to sexual assault at the age of 16 and that my father is a functioning alcoholic. These are things that Dr. Duk never asked or took the time to even ask. He definitely comes off as very pompous and not open to feedback or differing views. I was fooled by the number of positive reviews he had and wonder if it’s because people haven’t experienced great psychiatrists. My first psychiatrist was great, but unfortunately I moved out of the area and have seen firsthand what mediocre psychiatric care looks like.

I like how he talks to me like a person and does not rush to just give me meds.

I'm a rehab transitional counselor. My patients are from around the country. When they see Dr Duk, they almost always love him. He speaks truth and reason with compassion. If it falls on deaf ears or stubborn wills, then speaks truth with tough love. That's where a few of my patients hate him (for the wrong reason). I would send my family to Dr Duk. He's that trustworthy and sincere. I send all my patients that need meds to Dr Duk because I know he's going to give a conservative approach to treatment that is not "Burger King" fast food style where the patient gets whatever med they want.

I have been a patient of Dr. Duk's for almost a decade, and under his care have been able to recover from Alcoholism. He has treated my anxiety and bipolar well, always willing to tweak meds and try different things. I appreciate his holistic approach; he approaches care through family, occupation, one's personal goals and values, one's education level (whatever it may be), and so forth. He can take a "tough love" approach when necessary and has an excellent B.S. tracker. I recommend him highly.

Had treatment with him a few years ago for severe depression with the magnetic stimulation machine. I got better and left treatment. Came back to see him 4 years later because I was getting depressed again. Professional and insightful as always.
