Dr. April Linn Whitfield, MD

I've seen Dr. Whitfield for several years. She is super sweet and talkative about things that don't matter, but then leaves the room before you even get a chance to discuss any issues you may be having. I am looking for a new OB/GYN.

I went to the ER because I was in extreme pain. They told me to follow up with my gyno. They said because I owed a bill, which I didn't , they couldn't see me until it was paid. Any dr who puts money before patient care should not practice medicine.

This woman does not know what she is doing. She gave me one round of clomid and then referred me to a fertility clinic. I got a second opionion and my ne OB asked me more questions than she did the entire 1.5 years she spent with me testing. Furthermore, she didn't even do tests that have proved to be more helpful now that I'm with my new OB. She didn't even suggest a HSG test before sending me to the fertility clinic. That is case in point she is an idiot. She clearly either does not care about her patients goals and issues or she is that terrible of a doctor. I don't which is worse but both are horrible qualities. Please see another doctor if you are seeing her. I hope others do not experience the waste of time and money I sacrificed when I was seeing her. It was very disappointing after speaking with my new OB that I realized how she wasted my time and money, which are very important when we have been trying to get pregnant for almost 2 years now.

Do not see this doctor. The MMC clinic just churns out patients and doesn't bother explaining anything to you. I went through a year of tests to determine my infertility and saw 3 doctors there and none of them truly explained or determined anything. She was over cautious on everything, which only led to more doctor visitions, wasted time, and running up the bill. In the end, we did one round of clomid and she brushed me off to a fertility clinic. Complete waste of a year and $2500! My tests results were never given or explained, she just would always state what we needed to do next, despite asking questions to try to understand.

If you're looking for a OB/GYN who is reliable please look else where I don't know about her other patients but she never made herself available to me which I have a problem with there were days when she was nice & days where she gave off a don't want to be bothered vibe her nurse assistant is just as bad I will not be returning to MMC because I didn't feel comfortable I am in the process of finding a new OB/GYN !!!

Conservative approach. Didn't jump in to suggest surgery right away, but when it was determined that surgery was needed, she made time for me and all went well.

I went to Dr. Whitfield one time. She did my annual exam and it took 15 minutes of pain for her to complete it. I have never had it take more than a minute. Her office called me a few days later to tell me that I have the worst type of cancer and will die within a year. She was completely wrong, but scared me badly. She then charged me for visits that I cancelled and would not take them off, so that went on my credit. She is slow, painful and not accurate. I would never see her again.

Dr.Whitfield's nurse was wonderful and very informative. The wait was minimal in both the waiting room and the exam room. Dr.Whitfield's bed side manner is awesome. She is up-front but takes your feelings into consideration. We have been seeing her for a very sensitive matter and she has always related to myself and my husband and listened to everything we felt needed to be covered and addressed any issues that she felt me may have looked over in our quest to meet our goals. I couldn't ask for a more compassionate or competent physician.
