Dr. Ashanthi Gajaweera, MD

I have gone through a number of visits with neurologists in the past 4-5 years, all in California. I moved (back) to Rochester last spring. Dr. Gajaweera saw me recently, and her exam was extremely thorough, involving both the standard physical aspects as well as nerve conduction and EMG (electromyography) measurements. Her diagnosis and treatment recommendations were excellent, based on my past experiences. I would recommend her very highly.

Dr Gajaweevera is extremely thourough with my extremely complex back and nerve issues. Highly recommend her for your nerve issues.

This woman has the worst bedside manner of any Dr. I have ever visited. On my first visit she was VERY angry I was 5 min. late and informed me that time would be deducted from the time she allotted for me. I apologized and explained I went to the wrong bldg. She insulted me by questioning my diagnosis from my previous neurologist by saying "do you REALLY have this disease?" I was appalled. She said she needed her own MRI to see. Of course the MRI confirmed my diagnosis of MS because she could she lesions on my brain. The second time I saw her, "SHE" was 15 minutes late for me and never even apologized. Why I returned for the 3rd visit I'll never know, but it was my LAST visit. On that visit my husband came with me. When she called me into her office my husband and I got up and she gave my husband the dirtiest look as if to say who are you, and what are you doing here?? My husband introduced himself and she didn't respond and through the entire appt. she never looked at… or addressed him. It was as if he was invisible. The last straw was when she asked me to walk down the hall. I proceeded to do just that and she told me I had to take off my shoes. When I questioned why, she sarcastically said "you know we vacuum the floor" I couldn't believe her arrogance and holier than though attitude. I never went back and would definitely NOT REFER HER!

most memorable experience was dr. Gajaweera I feel was very professional and informative on my condition. dr. Gajaweera was friendly. dislikes when she had to insert needles into my leg. she was very good at keeping me calm.this was very painful. I would recommend her to a friend. I will see her again.

Dr. Gajaweera spends time with me and is personable and knowledgeable. She notices things going on with me that I'm not even aware of before she points them out tome. Even when the issue is not in the area of her expertise. Very satisfied.
