Dr. Barry Scott Callahan, MD

I will not be back he does not seem to care about his patients he walks in and out the room very quickly and does not even give you time to answer any questions about anything at all. I had to schedule with him 3 times before I even got to see him due to the office kept canceling my appt even when I had the appt months in advance. One time the office even called me an hour before my appt to cancel which to me is 100% unprofessional. I also have lupus, and he told me the nerve test would not be bad I stated to the Dr. I have lupus and it caused me the worst flare up ever. When I told the Dr. that it caused a major flare up trying to help out other patients so he would know his answer to me was ok.

This is a review for me first visit with dr Callahan. I’d say if you want a doc who can get you in and out quickly then this is the man for you. He walked in, told me I needed surgery ( based on c rays) and that the procedure would be much more complicated than it would have been had I come sooner ( how was I supposed to know that?) and then didn’t want me to talk or ask questions. Im having the surgery with him because of his reputation as a surgeon I’ll post again about how that goes. It would have been nice to share my concerns and get some empathy tho

Dr. Callahan was very rude to us. Noticed the hand tremor too, kind of scary for a hand surgeon.

he worked with our son (surgery and afterward with PT). He is knowledgeable but we were pretty insulted by his demeanor. Arrived 12 minutes late to an appointment and was told he'd wait up to 15 mn but he already left.

MRI showed multiple ligament tears and fracture in wrist. Dr. Callahand refused to do anything but immobilize and didn't even show me my MRI (had to obtain from Radiology). If I had not already seen the report myself, I would not have known how serious this injury was. Although he has received decent ratings from some of his patients, for me he was the very worst Dr. I've ever encountered. Terrible attitude, extremely arrogant, rude and gives the impression that he simply doesn't care at all. Perhaps it was because I'm a senior citizen and just don't matter - that's the feeling I left with anyway. Going to Birmingham for treatment now. If this is the best Tuscaloosa has to offer, we're in poor shape!

I just left my appointment with Dr. Callahan with the UOC in Tuscaloosa AL. I am beyond furious at the way he treated me with such arrogance and disrespect. He acted as though my symptoms of numbness in my hand did not make sense and even said so. He said he would order a nerve test and I told him that my primary doctor had order a nerve test and it was to be done next week. He stated why are you here then and who was treating me - him or my primary doctor. He left me feeling as though he thought I was a stupid idiot. I have never had a doctor treat me like this in my life. I do not recommend Dr. Callahan and will never grace the doors of his office again. I do suggest that he take a course in bedside manner 101 because he got his medical degree without master it.

I saw Dr Callahan one day and he did my surgery the next day. He was a very caring doctor.

He doesn't believe in giving pain medicine. I have a big problem when a doctor doesn't care how bad you hurt but doesn't believe in giving pain medicine.

My hand works so well. It was a homerun! Major elbow surgery incredible results!

Carpel Tunnel surgery on both hands! Great Dr. Who cares about his patients. Wait time in lobby can be a little but longer than I like, but well worth it!
