Dr Edwards is very thorough, knowledgeable and friendly. He listens to you and let's you participate in your treatment options.

Pursuant to continual efforts and consideration, my initial experience was sound. Additionally, when setting my appointment, the receptionist/staff were incredibly accommodating and efficient. My visit was comfortably seamless. Great job!

Dr. Edwards is truly outstanding. He listens carefully to each patient and offers his professional advice, whether or not it is a surgical solution or not. Because surgeons prefer to operate, they often seem to not listen to patients during office visits. Dr. Edwards is the exception. He willingly answered all of my questions and concerns regardless of the time that it took.

He blows through the visit and leaves you wondering what happened. Hardly friendly, no patience, no time to talk. I will never see him again.

Easy to get in. After that, you're on your own. Since I live alone, I asked for preparation list, repeatedly, and was repeatedly told I would be given that when I went home--a little late for PRE-paration. Dr. said that staying the night in the hospital was optional. I went to stay with friends. Why stay in a hospital if you don't have to? Right? WRONG. Late that night the pain was so severe, I was screaming and crying (I'm 63 y/o). Friends called the Dr's on-call person who said to take ALIEVE!!. It was not until my first follow-up appt. that the dr., while reading my chart in my presence, informed himself that my pain meds had been under-dosed. His response to my anger at his lack of attention: "I'm a good surgeon." So if you're looking for a good shoulder mechanic, he may be one. (I don't know yet, it's been 4 months, and I'm still at about a 6-7 pain level). If you're looking for medical CARE, I would keep shopping. If, God forbid, I have to have this one re-done, I… will go elsewhere.

Dr. Edwards is an excellent technician who specializes in total shoulder replacements. When he puts in a shoulder, he places it accurately and properly. When I had my shoulder replaced about 7 years ago, he lacked in bedside manner and provided inadequate pain management . The only pain management they had were nerve blocks and he knew or should have known from my history that I was not a candidate for a nerve block. I was told this by the anesthesiologist just before they put me under that I could not have a nerve block. No alternative pain management was made for me. The head of pain management was a neurologist, and he was discouraged from prescribing narcotics. Instead he prescribed a psychiatric medication for me. I had more severe pain than most b/c I had nerve damage in the shoulder from a car accident which was why I was not a candidate for a nerve block. There should have been an anesthesiologist just for pain management. When I left the hospital I was given a tiny… bottle of narcotic pain medicine. When I called the nurse for more I was told that Dr. Edwards doesn't prescribe for that. When I asked who I should call since he had caused the severe surgical pain, she replied that she did not know. At most I was given a 3 day supply of a narcotic when I left the hospital. Since my spouse is a physician, I was able to get some help, but not without additional aggravation. Further, this was elective surgery. I did not want to share a room, but I was put in a room with another patient. Had I been told that only semi-private rooms existed, I would have put off the surgery until one became available. They don't tell you that when scheduling a person for elective surgery. Patients should be given that option when scheduling elective surgery. However, the clinic has changed. I had a wonderful and responsive doctor who treated hands and forearms and helped me recover from an injury sustained in a bad fall. The clinic now has outpatient pain management anesthesiologists on staff, and they treat pain responsively and responsibly. Too many orthopedists are fearful of prescribing the proper amount of narcotic pain relief. They are afraid their patients will become addicts. While a small percentage probably do become addicts, most just need narcotic pain relief for an acute situation and are able to give it up when they no longer need it. Dr. Edwards appears to be much more responsive to pain issues now and his staff is supportive and very pleasant especially someone who I think is named Joe. In light of the changes I have given him another chance. Maybe he was just young. Narcotic pain relief is a necessary part of recovery from orthopedic surgery and injuries. Gladly, the clinic is stepping up to the plate.
