Dr. Brian Gregory Gerndt, MD

I had an open ventral hernia repair and everything went 100% as expected. Dr. Gerndt was pleasant and informative on our first visit. The office was very professional, organized, and clean. Surgery was scheduled within a week of my first visit at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. I was in and out the same day. The nursing staff took good care of me. Although I was still a little groggy from surgery I do remember the dr talking to me and asking me if I had any questions. Recovery also went as expected. My post-surgery appointment went well and the dr took plenty of time to answer any questions. I can’t think of one negative aspect of the entire experience. I would definitely recommend this doctor, his staff, and the facility.

I was so impressed with how he handled my appendectomy, that I also had him do some vein work on my legs. He and his staff are very friendly and efficient. I never had to wait very long for my appointment.

My goodness....Cookeville should kick him and his pompous self to the curb. I have never been treated so wrong at any hospital before. He should educate himself on how much we as patients have educated ourselves on our healthcare needs and respect us. Dont, see him, you will be belittled, talked over, and it only takes the wrong word until he truly shows his full colors....no, no!!

had a laprascopic appendectomy 3\21\18.sent me home same day. leg has been numb since I came out of surgery. 2 days later pain worse. 3rd day infected, ( Saturday ) . called Monday , they blew me off, told me it was normal since I'd just had surgery. Wednesday my stomach burst open and drained out a lot of infection. went to the Dr. again and was only seen by the nurse. Dr. never saw me. I had to have the hole cut open and now 2 1\2 months later I'm almost closed up and the infection is back. I've seen very little of the Dr., the nurse is the one who sees me and he only comes in for a second or two then leaves.

Horrible bedside matters and has ABSOLUTELY no time for you! He keeps the same cycle going on and it is ALWAYS go back to the referring doctor! He seen me in the hospital five days later back in the same shape and he tells me go get the surgical referral then he will see me! After St.Thomas and Cookeville Hospital said the surgery needs to be done to prevent it happening again he decides to many complications! He does not face you in the hospital when he is on call! MY ADVICE IS RUN AWAY FROM HIM AS FAST AS YOU CAN!

If you can not read his mind and are not willing to surrender to his will without question you might want to avoid him.

I found Dr Gerndt to be a fine surgeon. He is not only competent, but concise with diagnoses and action.

We've not met him yet, so I will give him the benefit of the doubt, but if he disrespects my sweet girl, I will sure give it back to him for being rude to her, if he is..... A doctor is supposed to care for his patients, or so I thought.

Dr gerndt laughs in your face when you attempt to exain the situation with what's goin on. If you don't say medical terms the way your supposed to again he laughs in your face. I have now seen him for two different problems (4 differnt visits) and I wouldn't recommend him for anyone to ever see him. He comes into the room and is only in there 5 min or less. Usually less. I do not like that man. It's rude and disrespectful to laugh at someone when you say something incorrect.
