Dr. David was AMAZING! [...]

Dr. David is fantastic.

Cannot say enough good things about this visit or this team.

Dr. David and his team are excellent. Professional. Good "bedside manners". A++.

I was less than impressed with Dr. David’s professionalism and bedside manner. I had umbilical hernia repair surgery done by Dr. David, and while in the pre-op room just before going into surgery, he asked if I had any questions ~ but then got quickly annoyed with me for asking 2 questions. (Note: I had sent the inquiry to his staff a couple of weeks before, but it had gone unanswered.) What I asked was “My understanding is you will try to avoid inserting a patch unless you have to, but if you do, what stops the bowel from rubbing on the patch?” He appeared to get a bit angry/ annoyed and defensive as he very quickly and tersely answered that he would not avoid putting in a patch, but only put one in if it was necessary. (Which is a distinction without any difference since he confirmed what i said: he would only put a patch in if necessary. So I have no idea why he was annoyed.) He then emphasized a patch WOULD be rubbing on the bowel. He repeated this a couple of times. And added… there would be scarring; which he also repeated a couple of times as well. (Scarring of what? Scarring on the bowel? Scarring of the abdominal wall? He did not make this clear.) He then stood up, walked to the foot of my bed turned and faced me and said this could lead to complications such as injury to the organ, possible bleeding, etc. etc…. And then he finally paused just continuing to stare at me. I am sure the look on my face was now that of concern given that I was about to have surgery within the next half hour. But my concern was less about the procedure, and MORE about how he was behaving. Not sure of what to say, I asked him, “You sound concerned”? He then said the patches are made of a non-abrasive material so he wasn’t worried and have been very successful over numerous operations. Given the majority of what he said was about potential complications, and much less about how he was not concerned about inserting a patch, his comments didn’t exactly set my mind at ease about him and his state of mind just as I am about to go into surgery. In fact, he appeared to purposely frame his responses to reflect how annoyed he was at being asked the question at all. I then asked him about the timeline for being able to exercise, to weightlift, etc. And after he and I discussed this briefly, he then added, “Well you could go back into the gym and lift more weight, but then the hole in your stomach is going to get bigger, and then I’m going to have to put in a bigger patch.” He then smiled and chuckled to himself about it while staring at me. Given his behavior, it sure seemed like a joke meant to amuse himself by poking at me. To re-state the point: He asked if i had any questions ~ and then was quite annoyed and condescending that I asked questions. The surgeon may be performing the surgery, but it is the patient’s body. It’s their job to answer them professionally and be kind about ~ or at least not act like a complete jerk as Dr. David was in this case.

I appreciate Dr. Steeve patience and care. He took his time explaining the results of each test, very patience in answering all my questions and proposed treatment. Knowledgeable doctor, shows compassion.

Patient and efficient with clear explanations

Dr. David took the time to explain what was wrong with me, what his proposed procedure would be, and then did an excellent job with my surgery because I healed in a matter of days with zero complications. He and his office also followed up to make sure everything was going well. I highly recommend him.

Dr David is very good at his job and I highly recommend him. Very professional yet nice as well.
