Dr. Caryn Grace Hasselbring, MD

She seems entirely uninterested in my own concerns and input, and refused to test me for joint damage because I'm "too young," and so the damage wasn't found until I had a major injury. She misdiagnosed me, which I only found out after several years and doing my own research. She always seems in a rush to be done with the appointment, and frequently refuses or neglects to refill my pain medication.

The office staff/PA’s are rude and snarky. Dr is totally disconnected from what is going on around her. Doc says see me in 8 weeks and staff tells you no appt for 16 weeks so they put you on a waiting list and forget about you. They could care less as long as the $$ are paid

We, our PDP insurance company, and our pharmacy has been trying to get a response from Dr Hasselbring for well over a month now. Our pharmacy has been faxing her every day. None of us have heard a thing back from her. Because of this our Uloric prescription just cost us $210. instead of the $30. it should have been. Luckily I had a prescription discount card that made it only $188. My wife is a long term patient and the lack of response is nothing new.

I met with Dr. Hasselbring a few weeks ago She was very thorough, caring kind and pleasant. Her experience and knowledge of what i was going thru made me feel very comfortable. ,

I don't even know where to start. My closest friend has a host of serious autoimmune diseases. Her mother died at age 53 from complications of those diseases. My friend has been previously diagnosed with and treated for lupus, sjorgrens, rheumatoid arthritis, autoimmune hepatitis (stage 3 cirrhosis) and so on. She has been having a worsening of her symptoms and so was very excited to see a new rheumatologist - a member of the team considered to be the best group of rheumatologists in Orlando. She went to see her new doctor, Dr. Hasselbring, about a month ago. When I asked her how it went, she said she wasn't sure about this doctor but left it at that. I flew from the west coast to Orlando to go with her to the second appointment. Wow is all I can say! This doctor is disorganized, rude and condescending beyond anything I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with personally. I tried to talk to her about a few things - my friend doesn't handle this stuff well which is why she… asked me to come - and honestly, I could have flown there from MARS and she could not have cared less. I am articulate, well read and the few questions I asked were reasonable and asked politely, but her answers were curt - as if I was troubling her and she basically just dismissed me and my friend. It was clear that she had not reviewed my friend's file beforehand and the thirty minute appointment lasted all of 15 - we had nothing more when we left than when we arrived - and an "I'll see you in six weeks". Huh? In the month since the first appointment there had been no follow-up for meds or test results etc. and in fact my friend went back after the doctor left us to ask about the results of her x-rays and blood work from the first appointment - the doctor had not even mentioned them. My friend is in agony with her various symptoms and can barely function and she has to wait six more weeks to presumably go through the same thing again? As we left, we talked to the scheduler who said the doctor wouldn't be there in six weeks and my friend asked if she could see another doctor and then added...this is my very easygoing mild-mannered friend mind you..."I never want to see that woman again." The scheduler informed us that the doctors have an agreement amongst themselves that patients can't move to another doctor. Wow!!! Talk about doctors banding together to protect their incompetent colleague!!! My friend was assigned this doctor when she called for her first appointment and now she is stuck with her for good??? Nice. I could spend an hour telling you the craziness that went on during that visit...but a few things of interest....had to wait an hour and fifteen minutes to be seen.... there was an over the top rude nursing assistant to the doctor who was only beaten out in rudeness by the doctor....and of course the signs that are posted everywhere as notes to the patients that are so rudely written and condescending in tone - it's clear that the patients are nothing but a bother and trouble to this practice. The whole experience was jaw-dropping. My friend never returned to that office after the second visit. She is so sick that she's now been referred by her prior doctor to the Mayo Clinic. This was without a doubt the worst experience with a specialist that she has ever had.

It's been years since I've been a patient of hers, but I was never particularly satisfied with the care. That's why I decided to warn others by posting negative reviews. Her staff back then was the pits. And her own attitude was uncaring. Maybe the staff is better now. I doubt she's any different.

I have been an off and on patient of doctor Hasselbring since 1998. The off has been due to insurance changes. She is an excellent doctor but personally a very reserved person. I found her easy to talk with and she listens. She's been willing to try a number of medications to find something that works for me. When she has referred me to other doctors for things I've always been very satisfied. I think she is one of the best if not the best rheumatoligist in the Orlando area.

Dr. Caryn Hasselbring is a superb Rheumatologist and if you are looking for an excellent, caring and professional provider then you will not be disappointed in the services at Rheumatology Associates. From the moment you are greeted by the cheery and welcoming smile of Laurie at reception until they bid you goodbye you are treated with the utmost respect and courtesy. Wait time was not excessive and compared to other doctors very good. The office staff are helpful and happy and it is so nice to see kind, smiling faces. Dr. Hasselbring's personal assistant Brittany deserves a special mention. She keeps everything running smoothly and is, I am sure, greatly appreciated for her dedication and hard work. I have no hesitation in recommending Rheumatology Associates of Orlando for their superior, first class work ethics. Thank you.

The office itself is completely disorganized, and the staff seems barely qualified. Poor, poor management - I don't know if the doctors have an office manager but if they do, he/she is terrible. The Dr. was so in and out with me it was ridiculous and almost insulting, like she had better things to do with her time. I have no desire to return and will not be recommending anyone to go here.

Dr. Hasselbring has a great office staff, but the dr herself falls flat. I have had numerous appointments with her and each one was more unpleasant than the last. She does not smile and does not even pretend to care about your pain or give the patient thorough information of testing and diagnosing. If you complain to her personally about her demeanor, she turns up the unpleasant and tries to put your discomfort off on you. My records reflect a different diagnosis that was verbally given to me by her PA. This poor treatment and lack of communication is unacceptable and deplorable of a medical professional in my opinion.
