Dr. Christopher John Abood, MD

I saw saw Dr Abood for my back pain and he was great. He recommended physical therapy and I'm getting better. Highly recommend him and their office.

I was crossing a street and was struck by a car 10 years ago, causing injury to my neck. 3 vertebrae were herniated due to this accident (C3, 6 and 7) and was referred to Dr. Abood for treatment of my cervical injuries. After 6 months of rehab, I was still showing signs of improvement in not only motion, but also enjoying continuing decreases in pain levels from the associated nerve damage. Since my improvements were steady, noticeable, and hadn't plateaued yet, my physical therapist thought additional PT would benefit my recovery and possibly avoid surgery altogether. So at my next follow up with Dr. Abood, I requested an extension of my PT to see how much it would help and possibly avoid fusion surgery. Dr. Abood immediately got defensive and rude. He told me that if 6 months of PT hadn't resolved my issues, additional PT would do no good. He then pushed to schedule me for fusion surgery. When I told him that given the seriousness of what he was proposing, I wanted a second… opinion, well let's just say he sternly told me that if I wasn't interested in having the 3 injured vertebrae surgically fused, I should find someone else and "stop wasting his time". I took his advice and found someone else who not only extended my PT once, but twice more for a total of 12 additional months, which basically returned me to not only a pain and med free existence but negated the need for any surgery. Here we are 10 years later and I still am showing no ill effects from my injuries that Dr. Abood said would never get better. Dr. Abood may be a very talented and skilled surgeon, but at least in my instance, was rude, condescending, and WAY to willing to rush to the scalpel.

I just left his office a little bit ago. That was the worst experience I have ever had at any doctor's office. The first receptionist I saw was ok, but the nurse was rude... she asked me probably five or six questions and wouldn't even let me answer without talking over me. She left the room with my MRI discs and was gone for probably about 20 minutes. The doctor came in after the 20 minutes with my discs and told me that my MRI's looked ok, the only thing he saw was a small bulge. When I had my MRI two years ago, I was told I had a herniated disc and I asked him how that was possible that the herniated disc wasn't showing up on the current MRI and he told me that I was lying and that I was making things up. His actions showed that he couldn't care less if I was there or not. He was sitting in a chair next to the exam table with his elbow on the exam table and his head on his hand talking to me. Then, he pulled up his computer screen to prove to me that what I was saying to him… was wrong. But, I've done enough research to know what I was talking about. He was the rudest doctor I have EVER seen. When I checked out, the receptionist (different than the first one I saw), was rude too. I think their whole office needs an attitude check!

RUDE RUDE RUDE!!!!! I would never send anyone I cared about to this man, after causing me to have a long stay in hospital, and me not questioning him, so rude with follow up appointment .

Dr. Abood saw me for my neck and arm pain. I had a herniated disc and was in a lot of pain. He suggested I start with physical therapy and I was reluctant because of so much pain, but I followed his recommendations. After three weeks of therapy at the spine center my pain was gone. I'm so glad he didn't jump right to surgery because I was asking him to. I would definitely recommend him to anyone.

9 years ago Dr. Abood performed cervical spine surgery on me and I had excellent results. 2 weeks ago I had minimally invasive discetomy on my lower back and believe me, glad to get rid of the sciatica pain down my leg to my toes. I would highly recommend Dr. Abood to anyone. I don't believe he would perform surgery if it wasn't necessary because in both cases for me, it was the only alternative! It really was very successful and I feel very good just 2 weeks after, (just a few minor twinges) but all in all, very glad it's over and I can resume a normal life.

Dr. Abood gave me my life back. I was suffering from extreme back pain and now I am pain free. One of the reasons I have so much confidence in Dr. Abood is that another Dr. told me that he was not only excellent but, that he never performed unecessary surgeries. My surgery was very successful and Dr. Abood has a wonderful nurse named Bard that was very informative and helpful also.

I had a complicated issue, as I had just had a total knee replacement on the same side as I was having issues with in my lower back. Sciatica was severe and I had numbing in my big toe that radiated to half my foot before the surgery. Afterward, I was virtually pain free in my back, and my sciatica healed fairly quickly. Now, 3 months after back surgery to repair the ruptured disk, and 4 months after total knee replacement, I am doing awesome. Thank you, to all the staff and nurses who made my time at the Neurosurgeon's office a VERY good experience. After the pain I had, I can honeslty say that all things went very well, and I woulod recommend Dr. Abood's office to ANYONE with lower back issues.

Dr Abood treated my sciatic pain with surgery. I could barely walk before, now I am ready for golf again. I wish my doctor had sent me to him first. The office staff was very friendly also.

office staff was great but the Dr. Abood himself could care less if you are there. He could not answere questions we had. He would side step the symptoms that my husband was having. He actually told him that he was just getting old. When he felt that he spend as much time with us as he wanted he went as far as to open the door to the room an stand in the door way. He really made you feel as if he did not care and treated you like cattle. I would never recommend him to anyone.
