Dr Christopher Mark Meckel, MD

Dr. Meckel replaced a knee that had been injured the year prior. It took that long to get VA authorization for Community Care. I was afraid of permanent damage. His matter of fact manner, his skill set and his exemplary staff all made this knee replacement happen. I can walk again…Yay!!! Thank you, Dr. Meckel!

I had a full knee replacement in Jan 2026, and by April, I was pain-free. I was surprised to have it done at 85, but the entire experience was amazingly easy. Dr Meckel is very organized and gives you a notebook with everything written down - pre-surgery, the surgery and post-surgery. I highly recommend him.

I recently met with Dr. Meckel regarding a possible knee replacement based on the referral of my personal trainer. Dr. Meckel was an hour late to my appointment. I spent about 30 minutes with Dr. Meckel discussing my options. I had met with another knee replacement surgeon the prior day who had suggested that given that my injury was limited to the medial side of my right knee that a partial knee replacement would work. Dr. Meckel does not promote partial knee replacements and seems to only do full knee replacements. In addition, Dr. Meckel doesn't seem to use any new robotic technology that provides more accurate measurement and cutting. In fact, he didn't even want an knee MRI before surgery. I just got the feeling that he was more old school and hadn't changed the manner in which he performed surgery in twenty years. I am very athletic for my age and had several questions related to the amount of activity that I would be able to do after knee replacement surgery. Dr.… Meckel was very non-committal and didn't give me a very good feeling that a knee replacement would provide me with a pain free knee and told me that 20% of the knee replacement outcomes don't meet the expectations of the patients. All in all, I have nothing bad to say about Dr. Meckel. He just seems a little out-of-date and set in his ways. I elected to go with another surgeon who is comfortable with partial knee replacements and uses more current robotic technology.

My knee was “trashed”, PT put it on MRI. I’ll spare you the anatomical details. I was aware of Dr Meckel’s good reputation from some time ago when I was in healthcare. When I met him, he seemed very quiet, a “just the facts” sort. That’s fine- I just need Otto surgery from him not a relationship. But I was wrong. I had total knee replacement at 74 with arthritis and an underlying neuro disease. He gave me back my knee. I’ve looked at surgery that relieves my chronic pain as easy cuz the horrible nonstop pain is gone, with only incisional pain that improved every day. Back fusions took time. Nothing prepared me for TKR- no get up & dance again event. The use of an app annoyed me at first (only cuz we all live on r screens so much), but it made contact quick and easy with quick Office or MD responses. It had my progressive exercises that it wanted charted daily…kind of a pain but they needed the info. Dr Meckel’s, man of few words, found the right words when I left one message. Specific… answers not like I was 4, answered everything, and reminded me that progress toward recovery wasn’t a linear progression- we were talking now, and he understood between the lines of my question- I had gotten a little down. I felt back on course in this long slow recovery I’d never experienced before. And I could see that it might be two steps forward and one back & that’s ok. Nurses are the worst patients, but Dr Meckel’s truly helped me surgically and later when the going got a little tough just when I needed it. He’s still a just the facts mamnprofessional in the office and with few words. But seems they were all the right words and I am very grateful for both his skill and kindness.

Today’s visit went very well as always. Dr. Meckel gives his entire attention to his patients. His focus on what you are telling him is stellar. I always feel at my appointments that he actually “hears what I am saying”. As a result, I have never felt discounted, rushed, or, that my questions are minimized. Dr. Meckel is stellar. I am very fortunate to be a patient of his.

Dr. Meckel was professional and compassionate. I am grateful that he performed my hip replacement surgery. I no longer have pain and feel that I have regained my life. Thank you Dr. Meckel.

Dr. Meckel is the absolute best. I have advanced osteoarthitis. He has replace both hips and both knees. You do have to put in the work… if you do it the recovery is amazing. I would not be able to walk and my quality of life would have been very poor if it were not for Dr Meckel.

Dr. Meckel is very thorough and pleasant in his explanations and answering all of our questions, as well as bringing up questions about the procedure that we might not have thought of. I have the utmost confidence in him and his staff and feel very well prepared going into my surgery. 10/10.

Dr Meckel is an amazing / excellent practitioner. He is so personable and attentive during my f/u appointment. He is very knowledgeable that I’m assured of great care. He is an outstanding clinician.
