Dr. Colleen B. Vanderkolk, DO

Disrespectful. Unkind. Not knowledgeable. Would see any other neurologist.

She is very educated and kind and caring. She is the first doctor to take the time to listen and made us feel so much better about the situation. We are on the road to recovery and we owe it all to Dr Vanderkolk.

I came to Dr. Vanderkolk with intense headaches that took place multiple times daily. Interestingly she suggested the problem was rebound headaches from over the counter pain relievers. She was right. The first month the headaches remained. The second month the headaches were cut in half. I do have migraines -but they are once or twice a month vs. pain that was degrading my life. She takes a lot of time with me so I'm sure that she takes a lot of time with others. She is very personable and really gets down to the root of the problem.

This doctor has absolutely no bedside manner no matter how sick you are. She forced me to come off all my pain management meds before she would treat me for chronic headaches. This included no support from her and the resulting in detox seizures. Afterward she had nothing to say and no medication or any other procedures to offer me. I'll could barely walk and her office. She saw that my inability to walk and in coordination was bad and she also saw and heard what I had to say about the intense pain and pressure of my head and face. However she treated me as if I was some type of drug addict after all I have gone through to come off of pain management medication that was prescribed to me by a doctor that I trusted. After she lost interest in trading me she just referred me out. And yes she has the rudest nurse on Earth and you are who you hang around. Because she is the rudest doctor on Earth. She treated me and my husband as though we were the most ignorant people. She even made a… horrible comment to me about how it costed her as a taxpayer money because I'm on disability. That is so unprofessional. And she is very dangerous and what she forces her patients to do. Beware if you are a pain patient she has no compassion.

Colleen is the BEST neurologist I have ever had! She does not treat you like a list of symptoms, but as a person - and in our case, I considered her a friend and expert I could not only trust with my health, but gladly refer my loved ones to as well. It breaks my heart that Dr. Vandekolk has left WI, because I recently returned to the area specifically to see her! Patients at St. Thomas are tremendously lucky to have her!

She gets to know her patients, and puts in a lot of extra effort to put you at ease. Calls afterhours if need be. She cares a lot in increasing the quality of life, of her patients.

Very personal and very direct. She conducted a complete exam and took the time to explain every detail. She appeared compassionate and concerned. Highly recommended if you ever need a neurologist.

She is friendly, personable and really listens. She seems to really take the Hippocratic Oath seriously. Other doctors had seen my test results and ...

I met with her for headache, numbness and tingling in my limbs. She did a number of tests and was gracious during all of it. She had to tell me that I may have MS. I sat absolutely still. Then she leaned over and hugged me. She is a true partner in my health care.
