Dr. Cooper is a pioneer of the single port arthroscopy procedure of the knee. He recently performed this on me and I literally walked out of the recovery without pain, discomfort, or a limp! Using a single port entry reduces inflammation compared to multi port procedures in use by most surgeons. I highly recommend not only Dr. Cooper, as he has operated on my wife, and daughter, and now me. The Carrell Clinic staff is exemplary and I cannot sing their praises enough. You won't go wrong with one of the best in the country!

I guess -- according to all these reviews -- he's the best. Sadly for us, we didn't get to find out. My wife was having residual pain after 2 previous knee surgeries that didn't fully resolve the issue. She went to him for a consult, but he spent most of the session criticizing her for having the wrong kind of doctor perform her 2nd surgery (a plastic surgeon who removed some scar tissue and stuff from outside the knee joint) and basically insinuating that it was her fault she was still in pain. I try to be objective and unemotional about this stuff, but to this day I'm in shock that a physician could be that reckless in talking to a patient who is obviously in serious physical and emotional pain. She literally had nightmares about him and would get anxious for a while when she saw people who looked like him in public. What did she need in that appointment? A sympathetic ear to listen to her problem with her knee, examine her, and discuss potential options. That's all. We had the… surgical report and even pictures of the surgery but he just kept saying over and over again "this makes no sense" and "I have no idea what that doctor did" and "how am I supposed to fix someone else's work" etc. Obviously he was agitated that we were referred to a plastic surgeon instead of an orthopedist, but it was horrible the way he took it out on my wife. To this day the knee is still not healed and she still gets random pain and cannot run. We may end up going to see Montgomery or one of the other big name orthopedists out of state, which is a shame when Dan Cooper is right down the block, but this has been so emotionally difficult for her that she's just not willing to risk being talked to like that again. I guess if you have a complex knee problem, Cooper may be your guy. But if it's something with an emotional component that you're very upset about and you're looking for someone with some bedside manner to make the patient feel like he's on their team, my experience tells me you should go somewhere else.

Dr Cooper performed a single port arthroscopic surgery to repair a tear in my meniscus. Immediately after surgery my knee felt sore, but really no pain. I followed up with several PT appointments and after my three week check up I am able to return to low impact exercise. I've had family and friends who have had similar injuries, but with a multiple port technique and recuperation and returning to exercising took them much longer and with more pain and discomfort. I couldn’t recommend Dr Cooper or this single port technique more highly.

If you have surgery through Dr. Cooper please watch out for them billing you out of network through a third party named Glenn Creek Surgical Partners fclaiming that his PA Santa assisted with the surgery to the tune of an extra 10K on top of what insurance already covered. I talked to another Dr friend and he stated that more Dr are doing this deceitful billing practice to try and recoup more money. Dr cooper is in network but when the PA claims to assist with the surgery this creates a loop hole where they can bill out out of network. The money is paid to Glenn Creek who in turn pays Dr. Coopers office directly. Shady business practices IMO.

Clearly explained the procedure, surgery went with no glitches and checks up on my rehab regularly. Knee feels perfect

I have been an Athletic Trainer in the NFL for 25 years and I have had several of my players cared for by Dr. Cooper. When surgery was indicated his outcomes have been excellent and when conservative care was an option his plan of action was on point. I have been fortunate to have Dr. Cooper as a resource and most importantly my athletes that he has seen have returned to be elite.
