Left with more questions than answers and felt my symptoms were not addressed appropriately.

I'm writing this hoping it'll be informative, I wish before I had had my surgery that there was more info out there; I would have been less apprehensive. Dr. Rothbaum is the man. I needed deviated septum and nasal endoscopy surgery, he delivered both in one go. You might read reviews about how he has bad bedside manner, but honestly, he's just a straight to the point kind of guy. Don't let the bad reviews affect you. He did a bang up job in my surgery; I'm here a month afterward and I've honestly never breathed better. The staff was all cool throughout, people were friendly, etc. These types of surgeries seem to vary a lot in the success rate, I got a lot of opinions from people I know who have had them done, with mixed results. One of the nurses here told me the first week after surgery would be the most miserable week of my life: she pretty much hit the nail on the head. It was absolutely awful, particularly the first 72 hours. After that you start getting used to the idea of… not blowing your nose or breathing much. But man, a month out, and it's awesome. If you're on the fence about having the surgery done, sure, go ahead and explore if you have any other options. I got a second opinion before I went ahead with it; the second doctor wanted me to do 21 days of antibiotics first, and then it that didn't work, surgery would be the next step (at that point I'd already done 10 days of antibiotics and that didn't work). Dr. Rothbaum already knew all the medications I had been on (I did antibiotics and a whole host of stuff before I ever even went to him) because I had brought a list, and after doing a quick CT scan and seeing all the structural issues, he skipped right to having to do the surgery. This left me reeling a bit because it did seem fast to me, but the alternative I was offered (more antibiotics) seemed useless to me, and after a lot of hemming and hawing, I pulled the trigger. So if things seem abrupt or fast or what not, just know that Dr. Rothbaum has the experience behind him and in all likelihood has a pretty good grasp on what's going on with your nose. Your surgery mileage may always vary of course, everyone is different. He's a decent sort and knows what he's doing, so if his "attitude" is your only thing on the con list, just get over it and go through with him as your surgeon or doctor. Can't recommend him highly enough.

I've seen Dr. Rothbaum several times and each time I waited around 5 minutes to be seen by HIM. He takes time to explain his diagnosis and entertains questions. When my daughter had an issue, I didn't hesitate to schedule an appointment with him, for her. He is great with kids!!

Absolutely wonderful doctor with a great colleagues and excellent support team. I highly recommend Dr. Rothbaum to everyone. Thorough and precise, he's one of the best doctors, all around... with spot on diagnosis and treatment protocols. Great followup, as well.

I had been to see other ENTs for my problem and they were not able to help me. Dr. Rothbaum took the time to listen to my concerns and was able to figure out what my problem is. He is really a great doctor.
