Dr. David William Dorton, DO

My husband and I both had cancerous basil on our face and we were very nervous about it and after viewing Dr Dorton "s reviews we were quite nervous but wanted to be treated , I cannot say how happy we both are the staff was caring so was he kept asking if I was OK? asked me all questions , listened.....he also did a pre-cancerous on my back . Because of the area around the eye is so sensitive , but we had minimal bruising , I would so recommend this Dr.

I went to my first appointment today in Spring Hill. Dr. Dorton made a comment to me that hit a nerve. He was doing a full body check and ask his assistant for an alcohol wipe. He used it to remove my makeup in several place on my cheek and nose and then ask if I had ever seen a dermatologist before? I said yes sir. He said, didn't he tell you that you should not wear makeup when going for a skin check? I said no but maybe that is something that the office personnel should tell their patient when they make an appointment. I did not care for his attitude. I felt very much like I was in an assembly line. Rush, rush.

My insurance was billed using Dr. David Dorton as my provider, however in three years time I did not see Dr. Dorton, I only saw the Physician's Assistant. My personal bills list the PA as my medical provider, yet all insurance claims listed Dr. Dorton. I was told by Aetna that this is allowed. The issue is, if this office billed under the person whom actually provided the service, my co-pay would have been less each time. I called Florida Department of Insurance and was told they don't feel it is right, but Florida Department of Health does not regulate how medical offices bill. If I was a Medicare/Medicaid or on government insurance, this would be different. I just feel that all need to know this. This is not the only medical office that does billing in this manner. I am going to send Governor Rick Scott a letter asking him to look into this matter.

If I could give him zero stars I would. He is a horrible doctor with a nasty demeanor. He seemed like he couldn't care less about what I was asking and rushed my time. He didn't answer any questions but the assistant did afterwards. He biopsied my neck and the nurse is the one who actually put the cotton on while he just left the room. Never again!

I visited Dr Dorton several times. I describe him as being non engaging. He zips thru the exam and gone. I never had a serious skin problem so far. My wife said he dug a hole in her face and left the assistants to prepare it for discharge, It later required plastic surgery to save her appearance. He was worried about missing dinner with friends and he so commented. The Bay Dermatology operation is over-booked and the wait time is often too long. I am looking for another source.

I have been seeing Dr. Dorton for the past 9 yrs. I have found Dr. Dorton to be very nice and not at all like the negative review I just read. My questions/concerns have always been addressed properly when I visit. Dr. Dorton is a very knowledge doctor and I feel he will give you the time that you ask for. I am very thankful to have found a good dermatologist in Spring Hill, FL

He badly scarred my arm with a shave biopsy which I need to now go see a plastic surgeon to fix. His bedside manner is terrible. He rushed in and out without much explanation or teaching. He biopsied my arm and could not get out of the exam room fast enough as blood was dripping down my arm he asked his nurse to fix it as he was leaving the room. He did not give me enough time to ask all my questions and point out all my concerns. My mole grew back and now I have a scar and the original mole and I will not be going back to see him for the removal and reconstruction of my scar. I work in health care and I would not recommend anyone to see him after the experience I had.
