Dr. David Joseph Rice, MD

Dr. Rice advised that I needed 15 treatments of radiation to my right breast for post-op for breast cancer and that I would have a mild sunburn as the only side effect of the treatment. He repeated that multiple times. After treatment number 14 I was admitted to the hospital where it was determined that I had issues with my heart, lungs, and esophagus due to over radiation. After a 3 day stay I was released. A week later while at my Primary Care Physicians office I was still having issues with coughing and breathing. He called an ambulance and I was readmitted through the ER to the hospital. After 3 more days in the hospital and multiple tests it was concluded that I still had lung issues due to over radiation. The 2 check ups during the treatment with Dr Rice was 1-he stuck his head in the room and when I told him I was already having sunburn after 4 days he said “that is really fast” gave me a thumbs up and he would see me next week. The second check in after week 2 I told him I was… super tired and hurting. He told me he takes Advil for his back pain and that is what I should do. He never examined me and frankly he never listened to me. I would highly suggest using someone who cares and is willing to take a few minutes to make sure you are OK.

Dr. Rice always asks how long I waited to see him, he is very thorough and pleasant and he makes sure his staff is on the ball as well. The staff is wonderful, and I am glad that I was with this office and Dr. Rice for my radiation therapy for my breast cancer treatment. They could not have been more thoughtful and considerate during my treatments.
