He saved my life many years ago when he operated my spine.

Dr Masel and his MA Jessica are wonderful. They had so much patience with me, coming in anxious and unsure.

I’d like to thank Dr Masel for being so caring and attentive. I’ve been seeing Dr Masel for 9 years. I’ve had a Lumbar and Cervical Fusion and has helped relieve pain. Unfortunately I continue to have problem with my lower back, but I will not see any other doctor.

Nine weeks ago Dr. Masel performed what is called a 360 spinal fusion where he made a small incision in my back and two small incision on my left side and placed a disc between L4 and 5. I spent 2 nights in hospital and 4 days in rehab. Dr. Masel discussed my procedure regarding the surgery, what I was to expect and amount of pain and discomfort involved. Everything we discussed was right on. After four weeks I was back doing normal things such as working, not labor but able to sit at desk for 6 to 8 hours a day. He encouraged me to walk 2 miles a day. At his instruction I began slowly and with light weights rebuilding my upper body strength. I have increased the weight resistance and started working my legs. There has been little discomfort other than what one would think normal, such as incision healing which I keep clean and careful not to interrupt the healing. Obviously I am careful how I bend twist and move per his instructions. Main thing is I do not have the nerve pain I… was experiencing. The pain in my right leg was so severe that it was affecting not only my balance but was getting weaker by the day to the point that I could not put all my weight on that leg such as getting into a car. Bottom line is I would recommend Dr Masel, his Medical Assistant Jessica and the office staff at Frisco Spine to anyone with similar issues. Jessica returned my calls in a timely manner before and after surgery. I am completely satisfied and after 6 years of nerve pain getting progressively worse over that period of time, looking forward to getting my old life back. Thanks Dr Masel.

I wrote another review on Dr Masel's web site. If this is the same site, I apologize as I am not trying to stack the deck but I do want to emphasize what Dr Masel did for the problems I have had with my back for the last 6 years. I had Spinal Stenosis for which Dr Masel performed a Lamenectomy in Feb, 2018 and then on Dec 12, 2018 a Spinal Fusion. Dr Masel is a very conservative surgeon who believes "less is better" and wanted to do the Lamenectomy hoping the fusion would not be necessary. However it was. I could not be more pleased with the results of both surgeries. In the hospital for 3 days on first and 2 on second. Dr Masel told me exactly what was going to occur in each surgery, how long I would be in pain or discomfort and what that pain would be. Now 7 weeks past the Dec surgery, I am almost back to normal, however without any nerve pain whatsoever. At Dr Masel's instruction I have started working to regain my strength with very little post op discomfort which diminishes… more each day. Jessica returned my calls promptly and when I requested a meeting with Dr Masel to discuss concerns I had, she got me in ASAP. After 6 years I am pain free. Thanks Dr. Masel.

Took about 5 minutes with me. Offered nothing but surgery. I won’t be back.

I tried to get care and communicate with the office after my first visit. I was asked to get an MRI and had some problems that needed the doctor's involvement, but no one returns calls. The Doctor's assistant never answers the phone. I've left 3 message in the past 2.5 weeks. Some unknown person called me after 10 days, I explained that I needed a response and help from them and had sent messages. She said that she would let them know right away and someone would get right back to me. 10 more days passed and another voice message from me, no response again. Then, I read on vitals.com and other review sites that someone was paralyzed recently by the Plano office. Another post indicates someone has died from routine procedures at the Frisco location? I just received an email after this that they are closing the Plano location and will be combining with their Frisco office. It's no wonder! These are all signs that it would be better to find someone else. I highly suggest you see someone… else if you care about yourself. These people are either incompetent or too busy, or both! Dr. Masel is wonderful. His manner is so positive, compassionate, and supportive. He is very knowledgable and knew right away how to help me with the back pain that I have suffered with for many years. Other doctors had just done multiple pain injections without treating the cause for the pain. I am still recovering from the fusion surgery I had six weeks ago; however, I can already tell that it is helping. The staff at Frisco Spine, especially Jessica, are awesome as well.
