I broke my left knee in a fairly complicated way (3 places) in 2017, and needed immediate surgery. I have zero problems with it today - I bike, run, etc., and my left knee feels like my right knee. Perhaps needless to say, I'm grateful for this outcome.

Bur he only cares about his ego! Yes he did a surgery of mine I would never let him touch me again!

But he doesn't care he only cares about his ego!

Dr. Wellman and his staff are THE BEST! My son had a traumatic injury that involved a broken femur. Dr Wellman took great care in correcting the bone to prime it to heal. After only 6 weeks my son is walking quite well. I am very impressed with not only the care Dr. Wellman gives but also his down to earth personality. He is a hoot and makes my son feel quite special. He truly has a wealth of knowledge and a great bedside manner.

If it was not for Dr. Wellman I am almost certain my father would never have been able to walk again after his fall. Dr. Wellman is kind, compassionate, patient, informative, and very professional. From the beginning, he provided outstanding quality of care that greatly surpassed my expectations. I cannot thank him and his PA Ethan enough for all they have done for us.

Dr. David Wellman is the best of the best at Hospital for Special Surgery. My trauma injury required a complete reconstruction of the right elbow. I am so fortunate to have had Dr. Wellman perform the surgery. Superb surgeon who I would rate as 10 stars if I could! And all of his staff are equally terrific.

Incredible surgeon and person

I have had 10 surgeries over the past 60 years. My hip was broken in the same place in 1958 and operated on by the head of orthopedics at HSS at that time, Dr. Phillip Wilson Sr. He told me don't break it again because you probably won't walk again (my right leg ended up 3/4 " shorter than my left) . Unfortunately I fell recently and broke my right hip again in virtually the same place. Dr. Wellman was the trauma surgeon at HSS who put it back together again. After 10 weeks in Rehab I am as good as new. I can not say enough good things about Dr. Wellman. He is a superb surgeon, very nice, treats you like a human being, explains things to you, etc., etc. if I could give him more stars, I would.

Dr Wellman performed orif surgery for my broken tib:/fib. I had an im nail in my tibia as well as fixation on my fib. Along with the numerous screws required. A fasciotomy was also performed as my swelling was severe. I avoided compartment syndrome due to his diligence as a trauma surgeon. I'm one year out of surgery all is well and good. Dr Wellman along with plastic surgeon Dr Duretti Fufa did an awesome job. My skin graft looks great and associated scarring is minimal and fading. The whole team and staff at NY Presbyterian/HSS are truly among the finest in the world. Very caring doctors and staff made a bad situation a lot easier for me. I'm blessed to have had such wonderful care.
