Dr. Debashish Bose, MD

Dr. Bose performed surgery to remove a desmoid tumor on my pancreas tail. I was not informed that surgery on desmoid tumors encourages their spread and growth, a critical piece of information that would have caused me to consult a medical oncologist prior to any surgery. The surgery was not successful: infection developed; several tumors rapidly spread throughout my abdomen. After this, terrified, I travelled across the country to MD Anderson (Houston) and was advised that surgery for desmoids was not recommended. Instead, I was given chemotherapy, twice a week, for one year which shrunk and stabilized the tumors. Unfortunately, the unsuccessful surgery/infection ate away the muscle and fascia in my left abdomen, leaving me with a “giant” ventral hernia that cannot be repaired. I was left disabled and unable to sit up except for brief periods. The quality of my life was substantially destroyed. Beware of this doctor: he presents well and has impressive credentials. But his desire to… perform surgery, perhaps for financial gain, was a great disservice to his oath and his patient.

Dr Bose has very little personality. My husband went to see him for Pancreatic Cancer. He refuse to operate on my husband and said he was a poor surgical risk, which he was not. My husband endured 11 months of treatment that included chemo and radiation. His tumor had shrunk significantly and Dr Bose continued to refuse to operate. He even refused to put in a feeding tube to help my husband gain weight. He shows very little emotion and compassion. I took my husband to another facility for a second opinion and he had surgery and is now recovering nicely. All of the cancer was removed. If we had stayed under Dr Bose's care my husband wound have continued to be in severe pain and possibly died. He obviously does not have the skills it takes to correctly assess patients and provide the proper care.

Good doctor

Dr. Bose was an excellent doctor to my mother who had a tumor and life was in danger. She had lost a lot of pounds and had jaundice with uncontrollable itching. He took my mother as a patient and healed her and made her better. He was always very nice to her and explained things well. I am very grateful for him as he helped save my mother's life. I can't imagine going through a whipple procedure with anyone else but Dr. Bose. His care and concern is virtually unmatched and his staff on top of everything. Thank you Dr. Bose.
