Dr. Debra Mary Acerenza, DO

I had 3 visits. One visit for menopause counseling/New Patient and 2 annual exams. My last annual exam (took 20 minutes) and was charged as 2 separate visits, menopause counseling & an annual exam. I disputed the charge as the ONLY thing meno related was when the dr asked about renewing my birth control, she asked if I wanted to go on HRT due to a single instance of breast tenderness. I said no, I will just monitor. I was told my visit codes were accurate and to review the record wherein I found gross errors (such as my menses was regular and it is NOT), inaccurate representations in what was discussed, conducted (they said a breast exam and abdomen exam was done and neither were and that I declined to have another person in the room and that options was not offered), even that my birth control was to control menopause symptoms which was news to me as I requested to be put back on BC to avoid pregnancy. I wrote a formal letter of complaint and the office only responded by saying again… that the codes were accurate and never addressed the report errors itself. In addition they sent my account to a collections company when I had been calling every month explicitly to make sure it did not and to get the coding issue resolved as they took over a month even to acknowledge the initial complaint. I even paid within a decent timeframe when I got my insufficient answer and it was apparent that it was my word against the Drs and no resolution would happen. I will never go back there.

Dr. Acerenza is very knowledgeable and thorough. I'm very happy with care I'm getting. Everybody in the office is kind and professional. I would definitely recommend Dr. Acerenza.

Dr. Acerenza is kind, caring & a great listener. She is always very helpful with her suggestions whenever I'm having an issue. Can't recommend her highly enough.

This doctor is judgmental and quick to make assumptions without getting appropriate information. She was not my primary OB but I had to see everyone in the office. I opted for an elective c-section which she disapproved of and made it clear even though my primary OB agreed it would be appropriate. I appreciate getting all the facts but she was pushy and wouldn't let me get a word in to defend myself. She saw me once, for 10min. and told me that since my baby was measuring small it must be because I wasn't eating. "This pregnancy is not about you, it is about your baby" I was told. How dare you think I would put my needs before my child? I have never had an eating disorder or weight problem and was very active and healthy through my pregancy with average weight gain. She said my baby was measuring a month behind and I needed high risk ultrasound "in a few weeks". I left in tears and my husband was furious so I scheduled for the next day and found that my baby measured right on… target to the day. I spent 24 hours thinking that I had done something to harm my child only to find that she was wrong. I worried the rest of my pregnancy that I would go into labor and she would be the one on call. Thankfully this was not the case and I have a perfect baby girl!

Dr. Acarenza and staff are awesome. I am VERY pleased with my care. I am in my 50's so haven't had obstetric appointments. However, my son's girlfriend, who is expecting, is going to the office and I am very glad she is going there. I feel she is in good hands.
