Dr. Edgar Alain Pollak, MD

I tried to put reviews on HealthGrades.com but it never showed up. I will try this one. As being a creator of a major review board, eProReviews.com, I can tell you that some people have very big issues, so don't believe all reviews you read, most negative reviews are shallow. Dr. Pollak is probably the nicest, most thorough Doctor I ever had that knows what tests to do and I can really tell he has your health interests in mind, not the money. He is there when you need him and his tests are appropriate for your most major conditions. It took me over two years to find a good Doctor, Primary Care, and believe me it is hard to find one, let alone a PCP that is accepting patients. I don't like the tests, of course, but it's for a reason. If conditions are found early, there is a lot Doctors can do. Dr. Pollak reduced my very heavy Atenolol and allows me to use some herbal medicines I take for my blood pressure, as well. Dr. Pollak is into preventive medicine, and I like that! I just… hope he stays in RI. I lost what seems like 10 Doctors quitting or moving over the years. You will be very happy to go to Dr. Pollak. I found the place in the Butler area hard to find at first, but once you find it, there is a lot of parking. If Dr. Pollak is not looking at you or being talkative, it is because he's analyzing your situation. Small talk can eat up precious time and concentration.

I'm still in the process of figuring out my diagnosis for a tricky disorder after first being seen by Dr. Pollak. He ordered a bunch of tests (good) which came back negative, at which point he decided it was a psychiatric condition (which I do have, but could not be responsible for all my symptoms.) He gave up trying to figure out what was wrong with me and I had to request to be seen by specialists. He also never explained what my tests showed or what conditions they were testing for. Also made judgmental comments about me not taking weight loss seriously, even though I've lost over 15 lbs this year.

I do not recommend Dr. Pollack due to his poor bedside manner. Several times when I saw him he barely looked at me while talking, commented "repeatedly" about my "obesity" and severely lacked compassion re; this. Minimized completely a 4 lb weight loss that I was proud of. Do NOT be late or you will be almost scolded. It doesn't matter what the reason is. Things happen. He is dealing with a sick population. Maybe his patient had a hard time getting out of bed to even get there!!! In my opinion, he is too busy and often rushing. I will not return to him because of these things. In closing, I WILL say that I believe he is a good doctor with diagnosing, etc. He just needs to work on his bedside manner.
