Dr. Edward Thomas Merkel, MD

Let me save you the trouble— scheduling with Dr. Merkel is impossible. I have called several times in the span of over a month to contact the scheduler. I’ve left voicemails and messages with the office staff. YOU WILL NEVER REACH HER and therefore never get scheduled for any surgeries or vital appointments. For easy check ups online, Dr. Merkel is the perfect doctor— he’s patient, compassionate, informative, and won’t rush you— you just won’t ever get to see him unfortunately. Keep your intake appointments with every other doctor, don’t be fooled that you’ve found the one because you’ll never get on the schedule.

My wife had virginal bleeding starting early 2016 and she saw Dr Merkel first. Dr. Merkel said that the problem was with the uterus and there was no cancer. In the next three years, she kept seeing Dr. Merkel and Dr.Merkel was always ‘observing”. Finally she was diagnosed stage 3 ovarian cancer!

Been going to see Dr Merkel for years now. I feel very comfortable around him. He is a great doctor.

I saw this doctor because he was first available and I was in an emergency situation he doesn't quite understand the emotions behind OB/GYN issues as the woman enduring the problem. He explained options thoroughly but not the after effects of how things make you feel physically and emotionally. He doesn't seem like a bad doctor but he's better off as an Internal Med doc or Urologist he's not sensitive enough to be an OB/GYN Doctor and I honestly wish I would've never went to him.

Dr. Merkel is an amazing Dr and surgeon. His down to earth bedside manner is hard to come by. He listens to concerns completely, then gives you a complete analysis of what your options are and what he suggests to make your quality of life better. He is a genius not only in obstetrics but also gynecology. His skills as a surgeon are unprecedented. I'm proud to call him my Dr! I feel blessed to have found such a wonderful physician. I would recommend him to anyone woman for any issues.

A lot of doctors can be very dry and stiff, but Dr. Merkel is neither. He is very thorough and knowledgeable. Love his sense of humor!! Makes going to the doctor more enjoyable. I never get the impression that he is blowing me off when I ask any questions. He actually welcomes them! He wants to make sure I understand everything before leaving. He was very sympathetic and genuinely cared when I had a miscarriage with my 1st pregnancy. I left feeling very hopeful. When I became pregnant again he monitored me closely and now I have a beautiful baby boy to show for it! I would definitely recommend him to anyone!

Always takes time with me, I.never feel rushed. Very professional. Would definitely and have recommended him to friends.

I let him sell me a hysterectomy, when I actually have severe nerve damage. Don't go see him, he's an arrogant man who does not know what he is doing. He is incredibly unprofessional, he told me about several other patients, while they were still in the next room waiting on him. He told me details about the woman, I was shocked. He also likes to throw in a few f'bombs from time to time, I guess to prove how cool he is. Please stay far away from him. I have seen all the doctors at this practice at one time or another and honestly, none of them are exceptional.

Great doctor. Takes his time with his patients .Explains everything well. Cares about his patients.

Might be good at preforming a c section but not sensitive to the mothers feelings. More business than caring.
