Dr. Eric Mason Westerman, DO

I could trust no physician more than I respect Dr. Westerman. I have been his patient for approximately 13 years -he is caring, calming (something you need when you are an immune-compromised individual) and encouraging. I have referred others without hesitation.

Caring and thorough. I really like that he is a D.O. and takes into consideration the bigger picture.

Dr. Westerman is very understanding and empathetic of people with chronic pain and fibromyalgia. Patients who suffer from invisible pain will find comfort with a dr. who really understands and validates our illness. He tries different approaches to find the match for your illness. I have been going to Westerman for 15 years and I have never found a dr. so understanding and willing to listen even to personal problems that affect our illness and recovery.

The appointment seemed a bit rushed. For somebody who has been having memory issues, I wasn't too impressed when he asked me "what are all your symptoms?" when they were right in front of him (he never looked at my paperwork that took me two hours to fill out), and then poke, poke, "this is what you have. No further testing needed." Yes doctor, but what about such and such? "Oh don't worry, it'll all resolve itself." Right. I left feeling flabbergasted, surprised, confused, and just used to get some cash into his pocket...so I found another doctor who actually explained things, took time to go over symptoms, etc...and she found some more stuff! What a novel idea! He was entertaining though. I'll give you that.

I have been going to dr.Westerman for 12 years and when I go to see him I feel like I am seeing a friend who cares about me and empathizes with my pain. He is very understanding and keeps up with new meds to give you the best pain relief. Three of my friends go to him for fibromyalgia and has made our life bearable. Thank you Dr. Westerman you give us hope when patients are in dispair and over whelmed with pain.

Dr. Westerman was very friendly. He explained all the possible issues I might have and why or why not each might be the issue, and what he thought it definitely wasn't. He took the time to answer all my questions, including somewhat unrelated things. I was very happy that he is going to get me through the problems i have been having.

Dr. Westerman does have great bedside manner. He's a likable person. However, he comes up with a dx within 15 minutes. "Classic Fibromyalgia. I hear these symptoms all day long. You are not alone. Let's try this medication and we'll keep trying until something works" Well, I'm not someone who wants to fog up their brain so this doesn't work for me. Fibro doesn't cause lesions on the brain. He doesn't consider ALL symptoms and is close minded. He doesn't want to learn from his patients, he'd rather give the same lines. I think he could be a "great" doctor. He's just stuck and not willing to persue alternative dx for his patients. I have CHRONIC LYME (which causes Fibromyalgia AND brain lesions).

I have been a patient of Dr. Westerman's for many years. I was one of his first patients. He has seen me through some tough times and has always been so kind and he truly does care. He will sit and talk with you and I never have ever felt rushed by him or that he was not listening to my concerns. He is conservative in his treatment and also has always called to see if I am doing well after a dificult time or a surgery. Even came to see me at the hospital once too. I would recommend him to anyone. If there is a negative it would be the billing dept. One person there is very rude and not willing to work with you or simply help you or direct you in the way to get the help you need with insurance. The rest of the staff is awesome !!

I have been seeing Eric for 13 years and he is a kind Dr. and will usually do what I ask. However, every time I go in with lupus signs and I am a former medical professional he says it is not lupus and has to be something else. He doesn't coordinate with my other doctors and rarely seems concerned with new serious symptoms. I really like him as a person and that is why I stay but I don't think he is helping with my lupus at all. He usually just says something like I wish I had a magic wand.
